It's been just three days since Apple launched its much-awaited iPad, and the reception (despite the jokes about the iPhone being the iPad Nano or the inevitable comparisons to maxipads) has been anything but lukewarm—and just as mixed as they were when it was first announced.

There are the haters—naturally—who criticize what Apple calls a “magical and revolutionary product” for its lack of features (No phone? No camera? No multitasking? No way!) and for its being an inferior but larger version of the iTouch. However, reviewers who have had a chance to work with the device prior to its release are generally positive in their feedback. Take for example, the guys at GearLive, who have this to say about it:

No doubt local early adopters will be lining up outside Power Mac Centers and A Stores in order to get their hands on this shiny new gadget—that is, if they haven't already gotten it via air freight (for details on this, refer to the iPad article on

But for the rest of us, excitement over the new and repurposed applications for the iPad are countered by concerns about the product's functionality and (given Apple’s history of releasing successive versions of its products fairly quickly) whether it would be a better idea to just wait it out until the second generation is released.
