Christmas is definitely a season of cheer. There’s the gift-giving, the partying, and the atmosphere that makes you all warm and fuzzy inside. But it also would be incomplete if a couple of laughs weren’t shared, right? Make the holiday more interesting with these funny songs that add a whole new dimension to, “Merry Christmas”!

Seriously, a plus-sized guy who swooshes down the chimney on Christmas Eve, whether it’s to spread good cheer or not, seems to be asking for it. So here’s a song that mixes Murphy’s Law into the holiday tradition as it recounts a litany of things that could go wrong for dear old Santa.

LoL-Worthy Lines: “It was the night before Christmas / Not a mouse was stirrin' / Not a sound heard anywhere / But the silence was broken / When these words were spoken: / ’Hey, get me outta here!’”

2. “12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS” by Bob and Doug McKenzie

Meet Bob and Doug McKenzie, two fictitious brothers who just love beer, and this song encapsulates just how passionate they are about it. Though they are probably best-known to audiences as the hosts of the “Great White North” show in sketch show SCTV, the video below is from the animated version of their show.

LOL-Worthy Lines: “On the third day of Christmas / My true love gave to me / Three French toasts / Two turtlenecks / And a beer”

3. “THE 12 PAINS OF CHRISTMAS” by Bob Rivers

This song is another rendition of the famous Christmas carol, although this sarcastic version seems to focus more on the usual holiday hustle and bustle. Stress levels do tend to rise as the holiday draws closer.

LOL-Worthy Lines: “The first thing at Christmas that's such a pain to me / Is finding a Christmas tree / The second thing at Christmas that's such a pain to me: / Rigging up the lights / And finding a Christmas tree”

4. “PRESENT FACE” by Garfunkel and Oates

Folk-comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates croons an ode to the classic Christmas dilemma—how to deal with unwanted gifts. And how exactly do they deal with it? By putting on their “present face”—a smile that’s a cross between feigned delight and a polite shock.

LOL-Worthy Lines: “You hoped for an engagement ring inside that tiny box / But your stupid former future husband only got you socks”

5. “SCRUFFY THE ELF” by Scruffy the Elf

Santa uses slave labor—who would’ve guessed? “Scruffy the Elf” tells the tale of an elf who flunked out of the Rivendell schools and was shipped to the North Pole to make toys for Santa—where, he leads a life of drudgery and Christmas crime.

LOL-Worthy Lines: “I don’t look like Orlando Bloom, but I don’t really care / I’m Scruffy the Elf, the elf with facial hair”

6.“HANUKKAH SONG” by Adam Sandler

This song’s an SNL classic; in it, Adam Sandler crooning about the December Jewish tradition. Not only does he go about the perks of Hanukkah, but he also gives a lowdown of famous Jewish celebrities who celebrate it during the holiday season.

LOL-Worthy Lines: “When you feel like the only kid in town without a Christmas tree / Here’s a list of people who are Jewish, just like you and me / David Lee Roth lights the Menorah / So do James Caan, Kirk Douglas, and the late Dinah Shore-ah”

7. “DRUNK ON CHRISTMAS” by Jimmy Fallon feat. John Rich

We might love our families, but that doesn’t always mean we relish the thought of getting stuck in close quarters with them during the holidays. Listen as Jimmy Fallon sings about one way to deal with a hellish holiday with the fam.

LOL-Worthy Lines: “Can’t be sober when I’m over / Everyone’s bipolar / So cut the crap and get some Jack / And put it in my soda / And make it strong enough to put a reindeer in a coma”

8. “THE NIGHT SANTA WENT CRAZY” by Weird Al Yankovic

All these years ho-ho-hoing have finally taken their toll on Santa, or at least that’s what happens in Weird Al Yankovic’s gruesome Christmas story song. What happens when St. Nick finally loses it? Carnage, utter carnage. Warning: this song is not child-friendly.

LOL-Worthy Lines: “From his beard to his boots he was covered with ammo / Like a big fat drunk disgruntled Yuletide Rambo / And he smiled as he said with a twinkle in his eye / “Merry Christmas to all—now you’re all gonna die!”

9. “12 DAYS AFTER CHRISTMAS” by Frederick Silver

Here’s another Christmas song with a twist—Fred Silver penned the words to this tune, which is often sung by choirs and at school pageants. In the song, it recounts how, following “The 12 Days of Christmas,” the couple had a fight and the singer proceeds to destroy everything her “true love” gave to her. We liked the version below, sung by actress Julia Murney.

LOL-Worthy Lines: “The first day after Christmas, my true love and I had a fight / And so I chopped that pear tree down and burned it just for spite / Then with a single cartridge, I shot that blasted partridge / My true love, my true love, my true love gave to me”

10. “OLOPS” by Parokya ni Edgar

This list just wouldn’t be complete without some homegrown music, and who can come up with a better holiday LOL song than Parokya ni Edgar? Check out this song about an imaginary reindeer that came into existence as a result of a little lyric confusion.

LOL-Worthy Lines: “I have a little story about a not-so-famous reindeer / He is Rudolph's younger cousin / And they were born on that same year / His name is little Olops, and he was jealous of his peer / It was always Rudolph red-nosed, and Olops the other deer”
