We get it—you're busy with your career. You're pulling long hours and it's not that easy to file leaves. If you're a new mom, you've got your budding family to focus on, too, and you're probably thinking that you should simply forego a vacation with your BFFs and spend time with your loved ones.

While we're all for zoning in on these very important priorities, you shouldn't forget that you also need time for yourself. Self-care, after all, makes you more efficient in the end as nuturing yourself enables you to nurture others more. So the next time your friends invite you to a quick out-of-town trip, just say yes! If you need more convicing, here are a few reasons why doing so is a great thing:

It's good for your health.

Studies have proven that we need human connections outside of romantic partners and maternal bonds, and having none of those is simply bad for our health. Always putting your needs last makes you more likely to experience burnout.

Always remember: You've always done your best, you've done enough, and you deserve a break. Don't ever think otherwise.

It will remind you who you are.

It's easy to get lost in all the roles you play. Before all that, you're just you and nothing can bring your true inner self out more than your BFFs. After all, they've seen you with baby fat, puberty, thin eyebrows, before growing into the superwoman that you are now. You can just be you, no judgment!

You'll love to come home after.

In a recent interview with Female Network, TV host Drew Arellano explains why time away from your S.O., your family, and your responsibilities is actually a good thing: "Couples need time away from each other. It’s very true! It’s funny na when you leave, you’re gonna miss them for sure."

It's hard to miss someone when you're with them every day. Sometimes, a bit of time away can make you appreciate what you have, which makes coming home much sweeter.

Everybody else steps up their game.

You may think that your household and your office will spiral into chaos when you're out, but you'll need to trust in your family and your team a little more. If you've put in the work, then believe that the people around you will also step up to the plate. The world will survive with you having well-timed days off, so stop putting it off and don't waste time overthinking it. In the end, you'll be better for it.
