Many consider traveling a great luxury, while others think they can't (or will never be able to) afford it. With the rise of independent and budget travel, however, you now have less excuses not to go to that dream destination. Here, we list down five of the most common hindrances to travel...and debunk them once and for all!

1. Budget

Traveling can be expensive, so it’s only natural that budget is a traveler’s biggest concern. But before you throw in the towel and think you will never be able to see that must-visit destination on your bucket list, read on. There are easy, doable ways to save up for your next trip. Our fave? Setting a little daily savings goals for yourself that lead up to the big goal of setting aside enough money for a trip. Start with a local destination, too. The Philippines is full of spectacualar places to visit—and if you diligently watch out for travel promos and deals, you can make the most out of your budget.

2. Time

Much like saving money, making time for traveling is just a matter of prioritizing things and shifting schedules to your advantage. Sure, your schedule is always packed and hectic, but with the right planning and a little extra effort (say, putting in additional hours at work to maximize your leaves), you can squeeze in a trip or two.

3. Family

Think you can't travel with the fam on a budget? Think again. Here's a game plan to try: Plan the trip as a family! Ask your 'rents to set a bugdet; volunteer to be on the look out for seat sales and hotel promos; assign a sib to be in charge of the itinerary; ask another sibling to research on value-for-money or for-tourist-only deals offered at your destination. This way, your vacay truly becomes a family bonding expereince, with everyone having fun together and creating memories that will last for a long time.

4. Traveling solo

No travel buddy? No problem. Not everything has to be done in a group. Traveling alone opens you up to new opportunities, encourages you to go out of your comfort zone, and allows you to do things you normally won’t do. Who knows? You might even make a friend or two along the way.

5. Work

We know that you love your job and that you're a model employee, but that doesn't mean you can't take some time off. Don't feel guity about availing of your leaves! That's a perk that you should enjoy as an employee. Plus, even research says that those who maximize their VL's are actually happier and more productive at work. Don't forget about that all-important work-life balance. So schedule those leaves, pack up your bags, and get traveling!
