Perched on top of a mountain in Negros Occidental is an odd-shaped little stone house surrounded by rows of flowerbeds and towering trees. The house, quiet and isolated, serves as the cozy mountain retreat of a married couple. Having lived in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and in Bangkok, Thailand, before, the couple thought of a Malaysian and Thai-inspired traditional house, which has separate rooms connected by walkways.

The sparse furniture inside the house is quite noticeable--only a few pieces, mostly made from salvaged wood and local materials, occupy the place. Though the house is very low-maintenance and contains only the bare essentials, it really serves its purpose of being the perfect quick getaway.
