One of the unique challenges faced by Frenjick Quesada, principal designer at Design Hirayama + Quesada, when planning the interiors for this condo unit was to integrate the owners’ preferred finish—cobblestone and mixed stones—into the design for a standard one bedroom unit. “I knew it was a really strong texture,” he shares. At the time Frenjick started on this project, a design philosophy based on bold colors and daring textures was still in its budding stage. “There was one way [to do it]: Go with the stone and go natural. But I wanted it to look fun.” Going with his instincts, Frenjick opted to do a daring texture-on-texture approach coupled with bold colors, instead of doing something neutral and safe. The result is an eclectic mix of colors and textures and a space that is every bit as beautiful as it is functional.
