Meet John Andrew Dangca, a 27-year-old Caviteño living in Canberra, Australia.
When his father passed away, John had to make a living for his family. He started out as a crew member for a fast food chain. Eventually, his aunt offered him to stay in Australia, where he was able to continue his studies.
While studying, John took on all sorts of jobs so he can also bring his entire family to Australia.
"Hindi nalang ako naging choosy. Kung ano nalang [ang i-offer] sa 'kin na trabaho, [kukunin] ko talaga 'yun kahit alam kong nakakapagod," he tells Summit Media in a video interview. "Ang dami ko pong trabaho. Naging cleaner ako... naging dishwasher [din] ako."
"Sa train station, doon na po ako natutulog," he recounts. But despite the hardships, the Caviteño persevered.
