While the attention of many Apple fans is on the new iPhone 11, another release took our attention: The newest work-friendly version of the seventh-generation iPad.

Apple's cheapest and most popular iPad is updated with a bigger 10.2-inch screen (an upgrade from its former 9.7-inch screen) and it's armed with a smart connector to an optional full-size keyboard and an Apple Pencil—so you can get work done without naturally hunching over your tiny keyboards.

Greg Joswiak, the vice president of product marketing at Apple, also pointed out another noteworthy feature during the iPad launch: “The new seventh-generation iPad is up to two times faster than the top-selling PC in the US," making it more useful for busy, career women.

More multi-tasking-friendly iPadOS updates include a Split View and Slide Over, which allow you to easily switch between multiple apps.

Managing a hundred files is also made easier. The tech giant added another feature called the Files app, where you can view, mark, and scroll through files similar to how you would on a laptop or a desktop. The new iPad supports external storage such as USB drives and SD cards.

So, can it replace your laptops for work

It's best to consider what you do for a living. If your day-to-day tasks mainly involve replying to emails, writing documents, browsing the web and other administrative work, then you might want to consider making the switch.

The new seventh-generation iPad is available in the colors silver, space gray, and gold, and is priced at $329. The Smart Keyboard is sold separately at $159.
