Phew. That a lot of variants to choose from-which is good considering all the economic uncertainty right now. It's also worth noting that Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has done away with the lineup's Prime variants, and that all trims get either three or seven airbags.

There are no changes under the hood. You still get two options: Higher-end variants come equipped with a 1.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine with 106hp at 6,000rpm and up to 140Nm at 4,200rpm, while the rest pack a 1.3-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine capable of up to 98hp at 6,000rpm and 123Nm at 4,200rpm. These options come paired with either a CVT or five-speed manual transmission.

When it comes to aesthetics, the new Vios sports a cleaner, more streamlined look highlighted by a revised face. There's less plastic up front now, and the sedan gets more minimalist-looking foglight housings with gloss black plastic. The G variant gets LED headlights with integrated daytime running lights, while G, E, and XLE units all come with LED foglights, too.

The sedan's interior remains familiar, flaunting a stealthy vibe featuring fabric available with attractive contrast stitching, some nice faux leather bits, and a simple, modern dashboard design and layout. Available features include a push-to-start ignition, paddle shifters, and a reverse camera for convenient parking.

As far as refreshes go, this is a relatively minor one. Then again, why mess with a formula that has worked wonders for TMP sales so far?
