Have people been telling you to take a chill pill more often as of late? Then you probably need to take it easy. Don't get us wrong--we understand that you have your own reasons for keeping a tight grip on your life. There are times when you want everything to go the way you planned it, or you can't trust anybody else to do the job correctly. But there are also a lot of reasons why it's important to let a little bit of that control go. The trick is to do it slowly. Let FN show you how:
1. Spend one whole Saturday in bed. The first step is to appreciate your personal time. Choose a weekend that’s most convenient for you, and schedule a whole day of lounging around in your pajamas. Keep your phone on silent, and sit back for a Game of Thrones or Carrie Diaries marathon. You might be surprised at how much you miss having yourself for company!
2. Learn how to delegate. Start with simple tasks first. Assign projects to your employees, but ask them to report to you regularly, so you know exactly how well they’re taking the additional responsibility. They might not be able to take over everything immediately, but you’ll at least be more comfortable letting them do some of the work because you’ve trained them yourself.
3. Meditate. Meditation isn’t a purely spiritual exercise. If you want to learn how to let go, meditate and allow your mind and body to relax. Set aside five to 10 minutes each day to for this. Get into a comfortable position, close your eyes, and focus on your breathing. It might feel awkward at first, but don't let it stop you from trying to clear your thoughts. Keep at it long enough, and you'll find yourself living an easier and more relaxed life.
