For cancer patients, the side effects of treatment may sometimes be as bad as the disease itself. Rashes, skin discoloration, blackened nails, and falling hair are some of the possible effects of chemotherapy and radiation.
Aside from the physical pain brought about by the said side effects, there is also the matter of the patients’ emotional well-being. According to radiation oncologist Dr. Mary Ann Genina-Reyna, however, patients are more likely to continue treatment despite these obstacles when there is support from friends and family.
At the launch of Evolife, a range of cancer-support care products that address the side effects of cancer treatment, FN was able to ask her and cancer warrior Minda Nimo how people can better support their loved ones who are diagnosed with cancer.
