Ladies, do your men often leave home without even having a bite of breakfast? You may want to pack him a quick snack, as according to a feature on NBC News, skipping breakfast has been linked to an increased heart disease risk.

Researchers from Harvard School of Public Health recently released the results of their study, which surveyed the food frequency intake and overall health of 26,902 men between ages 45 and 82 from 1992 to 2008. They found that those who regularly skipped breakfast had a 27 percent higher risk of suffering from several cardiovascular conditions, including heart attack and coronary heart disease.

Despite the reported risk, however, those who skipped breakfast and ate only one or two heavy meals a day were less at risk as compared with those who ate an average of six times a day. Clearly, a person’s overall lifestyle may tip the scales one way or another. For example, you can make sure your man eats breakfast every day, but if what he eats are generally unhealthy meals, then it wouldn’t make much of a difference in the long run.

To help him embrace a healthier lifestyle, try to introduce healthy breakfast meals a few times a week. Once he gets accustomed to it, it won’t be long before he starts practicing healthier habits.
