1I am not the type of person who regularly gets massages when I’m tired. My body is extra sensitive when it comes to pressure, and I guess I’m lucky that I don’t have body pains that needed to be addressed, but one particular massage therapy caught my attention: electrotherapy.

Using electricity as a form of relaxation intrigued me. Although this may be the first time you've heard of such a thing, this method has actually been used to detoxify and heal the body from within for ages. Believers get electrotherapy massage when they have athritis, stroke, sports-related injuries, insomnia (oh, hello there!), scathia and gout. Plus, it makes your skin supple and reduces cellulite. Curious as I was, I decided to make an appointment at Takshing Health Care and Beauty Center to get electrified.

The center was extremely quiet—no frightened screams of clients. Prior to getting the treatment, they asked me which scent I wanted, and if I remember it correctly, they offered peach and lavender. The peach body concoction smelled delightful, so I had myself a fruity massage.

A cord was attached to my right foot which was secured by a gauze. At the attendant's first touch, I felt a tiny jolt go through both of my feet! The pulses of electricity didn't hurt and mostly tickled; I was laughing every time my hypersensitive areas were stroked. The uncanny thing about the massage, apart from the electric part, is that whatever is being done to one area can be felt by the other side, too. I still got to doze off a bit when my back was being rubbed. It sounds funny, but the electricity relaxed me.

After the massage, I looked in the mirror and saw that my face looked well-rested—like I had slept a good, full eight hours. Also, I peed like crazy. The attendant said it was my body’s way of flushing out all the toxins. My body felt much lighter, and my brain functioned faster, too. I was quicker to react and I became more productive. I think the massage is a cross between a calming cup of chamomile tea and an energizing mug of caffeine-rich coffee. So, if you’re quite a daredevil when it comes to beauty and wellness, I suggest you give this a shot.
