Is your favorite TV series keeping you up all night? According to WebMD, not having enough shut-eye ages your skin, kills your sex drive, and can lead to serious health problems. To make sure you get more sleep and that you feel a lot better the moment you wake up, here are a few things you can do before bedtime.

Read a good book.
You can relax your mind and body simply by reading a book. According to a study from the University of Sussex, reading can reduce stress by up to 68 percent and works better and faster than other relaxation methods, such as listening to music or drinking hot tea.

Write in a journal.
Keep a notebook by your bedside table and write down all your worries and problems to take your mind off them–a worry-free mind can help you get a good night’s sleep.

Put away all electronics.
Aside from them being a distraction, the Sleep Foundation says that the artificial light they emit is sufficient enough to miscue the brain and promote wakefulness. Try placing all your gadgets in a different room or keep them inside a drawer where it’s out of your sight.

Take a relaxing bath.
Joyce Walsleben, PhD, associate professor at the New York University School of Medicine, recommends taking a hot bath two hours before bedtime. "If you raise your temperature a degree or two with a bath, the steeper drop at bedtime is more likely to put you in a deep sleep," she says.
