practical_feng_shui_inside.jpgWe’ve all pretty much seen bagwas of all shapes and sizes hanging from doors or frogs with coins sticking out of their mouths in shops. These are just a couple of things that are closely associated with the practice of Feng Shui. But just what is this Chinese tradition, really?

According to famous Feng Shui master Lillian Too, who has written several articles on the topic, “Feng Shui is the practice of beneficially harnessing the energy forces around us. It is the art of living in harmony with the land, such that one derives the greatest benefits, peace, and prosperity from being in perfect equilibrium with Nature.” This practice of living in harmony with the energies of Nature can be traced back to as early as the Tang dynasty, which lasted from 618 to 907 A.D.

Feng Shui focuses on yin and yang, the balance between the positive and the negative. Learning to live in harmony with the world around you thus helps you become a better person at home and at work as you understand the need to keep your environment in its natural order.

Contrary to popular belief, Feng Shui isn’t all charms and rituals, and some of its beliefs are grounded on the premise of simplifying your life and making sure that your environment is conducive to productivity. Below are five practical Feng Shui tips you can do yourself, whether or not you believe in it.
