If you've tried every single famous diet out there and still haven't been able to lose those unwanted pounds, then maybe it's time to try something simple. According to a World Health Organization (WHO) report featured on ScienceDaily.com, going for low-fat alternatives to high cholesterol viands can actually trim your waistline and make you lose as much as three-and-a-half pounds.

Working with 73,589 men, women, and children from different parts of the globe, researchers from WHO's Nutrition Guidance Expert Advisory Group (NUGAG) Subgroup on Diet and Health went through 33 randomized controlled trials, analyzed data on each person's weight, waistline, and amount of fat consumed. The researchers found out that cutting on fatty foods actually led the participants to lose weight.

"The weight reduction that we found when people ate less fat was remarkably consistent--we saw it in almost every trial. Those who cut down more on fat, lost more weight," lead researcher Dr. Lee Hooper from UEA's Norwich Medical School explains.

Cutting down on saturated fat doesn't only trim down your waistline without much effort, it also keeps you from developing cardiovascular diseases.

A few ways to lessen your fat intake is to avoid having too much cheese and butter in your food. Try your best to rarely have cakes and other sweet pastries, and shy away from the fatty part in your pork chops. Take in lots of fruits and vegetables, and substitute yogurt for ice cream. Most of all, be physically active, stop smoking, and drink alcohol in moderation.
