UPDATE: Due to Supertyphoon Pepeng, Avon Walk events in Manila, Malolos, Vigan, and Legaspi have been moved to November 8, 2009. Avon Walk events in Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, and Iloilo will push through as scheduled.
Breast cancer is a silent killer that has stricken many of us close to home. With the Philippines having the highest incidence rate of the disease in Asia, it’s only natural that we Filipinos take the necessary measures to fight the disease—or as Avon puts it, “walk all over it.”
Help raise awareness about breast cancer by joining “We Walk as One—Avon Walk Around the World for Breast Cancer,” on October 4, 2009, which will be held simultaneously in seven key cities all over the country. The event will take place in Manila (SM Mall of Asia Open Grounds), Cagayan de Oro (Avon CDO Branch), Cebu (Acon Cebu Branch), Legaspi (Avon Legaspi Branch), Malolos (Bulacan Provincial Capitol), Vigan (Plaza Burgos), and Iloilo (SM Iloilo).

In an attempt to raise a new record, Avon aims to gather 50,000 participants nationwide to walk the distance for breast cancer.
“In the fight against breast cancer, the more people are made aware about the disease, the more chances they have of not falling victim to it,” says Avon Philippines President and General Manager Bob Briddon. Avon’s touching video, uploaded on YouTube and available to share online, drives home the point that all of us can be affected by the disease—through family, friends, and loved ones. The video shows people—celebrities and common folk alike—pledging to be part of the walk, dedicating their efforts to a special person in their lives.
