Fighting for body love has been an uphill battle. We always get comments about how the movement glorifies obesity, when in reality, that's not at all what body love/body acceptance/body positivity is. It literally just means loving your body for what it is and what it can do for you. And this is what most people never consider: you can try to improve your health and STILL love your body. Being fat does not require you to walk around, wear ugly clothes, and hate your body until it's "perfect." And guess what? Forcing people to live with this kind of mentality doesn't do them any good.
And science agrees.
According to a study, body-shaming fat people can cause them to stress-eat: "You would hope that making a person aware they are overweight would result in them being more likely to change and lose some weight. These findings are in line with recent suggestions that the stress associated with being part of a stigmatized group may be detrimental to health.” The study also urges people to turn to more positive techniques when it comes to encouraging others to make healthier choices.

Constantly talking about someone's weight can create a bigger problem. Focusing on people's bodies instead of their achievements doesn't benefit them in any way. Calling fat people "fat" won't make them thin; it just makes you an asshole. So resist the urge to police other people's bodies, because it's not doing them any good, and frankly, it's none of your business.
