Leaving your 20s behind may seem like the end of the world, but trust us, that feeling won’t last very long. Hitting your 30s is like being given a new lease on life, and as with every new beginning, it comes with certain perks. Here are five underrated things about being in your 30s that you’ll grow to love.

1. You have a better job now.

You've worked your way to the top, and now you're the boss of everyone else. As a result, you also have a better salary, which means you can now afford to maximize those vacation leaves you've earned and make new memories!

2. You get automatic respect from almost everyone below 30.

We know it’s a cheap thrill, but entering a luxury goods store and having the sales ladies actually assist you for once (instead of giving you suspicious looks like when you were in your 20s) feels great. That and reaching mentor status at work make turning 30 well worth it.

3. You can carry “sophisticated” well.

You’ve spent many years honing your personal sense of style, and now you can dress yourself appropriately for just about every occasion. As an added bonus, old trends are coming back! Having lived through those trends before means you don't have to buy a lot of new clothes now to stay trendy; you only have to look at the back of your closet.

4. You’re no longer pressured to go out with friends.

Admit it—there were times when you didn’t really feel like going out with your friends every night. Well, now, you don’t have to worry about turning them down too often because most of your friends would rather be home watching TV or surfing the Internet like you.

5. You no longer live with your parents.

For the first time in your entire life, you actually have total freedom. You can come home however late you want or refuse to do the dishes until you feel like it. You can leave the TV on while you shower and not have to hear your mom telling you to turn it off. Being in your 30s is pure bliss.
