1. You’re always told, “You’re intimidating.”
Whenever your friend introduces you to her other friends or colleagues, she always feels the need to warn them: “Don’t be intimidated! Mabait ‘yan.” And you think it’s ridiculous, until those same people later confirm that that’s exactly how they felt when they met you.

2. You are always the go-to person for advice.
Even if you’re no expert on the matter! They go to you because they want to hear the Gospel truth… Even though when you DO tell them the truth and they can’t handle it, things get a ‘lil awkward.

3. You’re tense around highly sensitive people.
It’s like walking on eggshells! You can’t be yourself right away, because you’re too busy trying to figure out where the line is. “Should I go there? Was that too inappropriate? Oops. There’s the line. And I just crossed it. Great.”

4. You’d rather be alone than suffer through small talk.
Time stands still, and you die a little inside. You go through all the appropriate getting-to-know-you questions like, “Where are you from?” “What do you do?” “Where did you go to school?” And you’re counting down the minutes until you can finally eat (and ignore them), or you get to a place of extreme comfort and you share a mutual passion or hatred for something. Bliss.

5. You can’t keep the honesty off your face.
Once in a while, you choose not to open your mouth when somebody does something stupid or says something cringe-worthy. Even then, the honesty is written ALL over your face. And your head starts to hurt because you’re trying not to roll your eyes so much. STRUGGLE.

6. You’re never 100% sure about how honest your friend wants you to be.
Especially when it comes to shopping. Should you tell your friend that her must-have dress isn’t worth it if she looks like she can’t breathe? Should you tell her that her makeup is washing her out? Are you body-shaming her when you come up with options that might not be her style, but might look better on her? WHAT ARE THE ANSWERS?

7. You have to be extra enthusiastic.
Whenever you genuinely approve of something or someone, you have to keep reassuring them that you’re really into it. People often associate bluntness with negativity, so your friends are always naninibago when you agree right away. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t. Hayyy.

8. You’re “the mean friend.”
Being brutally honest doesn’t always translate to being mean! While you respect the fact that some people need the fluff, you just don’t have enough time, energy, or patience for it. It’s not like you WANT to hurt people’s feelings—especially those of your loved ones—but to you, being a real friend means being dependable enough to always tell the truth, even if it’s not what they want to hear.
