pnoy_gloria_extra.jpgRep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, former president of the Philippines, expressed her dismay over Pres. Noynoy Aquino's current leadership, saying that he has failed to follow up on the successes of her administration, reports. She claims that the country's economy is in danger and that P-Noy has distinctly shown a lack of leadership skills since the Quirino Grandstand hostage crisis in August 2010.

According to, the congresswoman said the country experienced a sustainable growth rate during her tenure. "I have sustainable growth rate, 10 years of uninterrupted growth. Even during global crisis, I left with 7.9-percent growth rate. I left with automated elections. Gains I built on gains of previous leaders because every administration should build on previous successes," she is quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, she described Aquino's administration as having a "nobody's home" feel. "During my time, inflation rate was slowest among administration. Even the score of the Philippines in corruption is going up," she is quoted as saying. She also adds that while the country continues to benefit from her administration, the Philippines is still decelerating in comparison to other Asian countries.

Budget Secretary Florencio "Butch" Abad rebutted Arroyo's statements in another article. "The first question that comes to mind is what gains? The people’s gains or her gains? Prudent expenditure took a back seat to political survival and political patronage during the previous administration."

"Nobody home? Of course! We’ve left the old neighborhood. We live in a new neighborhood now—where decency, transparency, and accountability reign," he is quoted as saying. He adds that the new administration struggled when Aquino went into office in June 2010. They had to make ends meet with only 40 percent of the budget remaining for the rest of 2010, as well as providing additional funds for the P2-million Calamity Fund already used up earlier that year.
