Rains still batter Metro Manila even if Tropical Storm Maring/Trami have already left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services and Administration (PAGASA), this is caused by a southwest monsoon enhanced by Tropical Storm Maring.
In an update posted today at 1:30 P.M., the weather bureau stated that "moderate to heavy rains" will continue to affect the following areas: Metro Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, Rizal, Cavite, Tarlac, Bataan, portions of Laguna, Quezon, Occidental Mindoro and Zambales. PAGASA added that "flooding in low-lying areas may still prevail."
Inquirer.net reports that due to the inclement weather, classes have been suspended in the following areas:
- Bacoor, Cavite: pre-school only (Thursday)
- Laguna: all levels, public and private, (Thursday-Friday)
- Las-Piñas: first district elementary and high school, public (Thursday)
- Malabon: all levels, private and public (Thursday-Friday)
- Makati: all levels, public and private, (Thursday-Friday)
- Mandaluyong: elementary and high school (Thursday only)
- Manila: all levels, private and public, (Thursday only)
- Marikina: all levels, private and public (Thursday-Friday)
- Muntinlupa: pre-school to high school, private and public, (Thursday-Friday)
- Parañaque: all levels, private and public, (Thursday only)
- Pasay: pre-school to high school, private and public (Thursday-Friday)
- Pasig: pre-school to elementary, public, Thursday
- Pateros: pre-school to high school, public, (Thursday-Friday)
- San Mateo, Rizal: all levels, public and private (Thursday, Friday)
- Taguig : all levels, public, (Thursday only)
- Valenzuela: day-care centers to high school and city-owned universities (Thursday-Friday)
Malacañang has also released a list of evacuation centers for those affected by the tropical storm and southwest monsoon. The following areas are still under a state of calamity:
- Ilocos Sur, Narvacan
- Bataan, Masantol, Guagua, Minalin, Macabebe and San Fernando
- Cavite
- Laguna
- Paranaque
- Pateros
- Muntinlupa
- Pampanga
- Rizal, San Mateo and Taytay
- Occ. Mindoro, Sablayan
In its official Facebook account, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reports that EDSA, C-5, Marcos Highway, Airport Road, and Roxas are all passable.
