When Sarah Geronimo—the original, not the singer—visited five schools in Tacloban and Eastern Samar, she found out that one way the teachers give their students hope is by “looking strong and looking their best.” This meant wearing their uniform and putting on makeup, so they could continue to serve as “as models of strength and beacons of hope.”
In an effort to help these teachers, Sarah is hosting a Boots and Lipstick Fund Drive. The boots are to help them reach schools and makeshift classrooms. The lipsticks are to help them put up a strong front for the children.
“I am aiming to get as many pairs of boots and lipsticks as possible, through a combination of actual lipstick donations in kind, and also donations in cash which I will use to purchase lipsticks, hopefully at cost price or near-cost price,” says Sarah.
“I will be delivering the goods myself to the schools, in a trip organised by the Department of Education Regional Office (Region 8).
“I would love it if I could get the lipsticks in two weeks because our trip to the areas is scheduled for February 7.”
