In the spirit of solidarity, WWF (World Wildlife Fund) has once again launched the “I Will If You Will” campaign, which aims to challenge everyone to go beyond Earth Hour. WWF ambassadors Marc Nelson, Rovilson Fernandez, and Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski have all pledged their own promises, and WWF-Philippines vice-chair and CEO Jose Ma. Lorenzo Tan is confident that the rest of the country will follow suit.
“The EDSA revolution has shown how the Filipino’s strong sense of spirit and unity can change the course of history,” he says. “Because we stand firm, we are able to set an example and be of positive influence to others. Having secured the top spot for four straight years, we should do all we can to ensure that the country again sends a clear message to the world—that individuals, when working as one, can rise to the challenge of climate change.”
The Philippines has been Earth Hour's number one participating country since 2009 and has even been given the title Earth Hour Hero Country. On March 23, from 8:30 P.M. to 9:30 P.M., turn your lights off, and help prove that we deserve the title for the fifth time in a row.
