Join yoga enthusiasts and HIV advocates at the "Yoga for Life: Touching Lives" event at the Glorietta 3 Park this Sunday, May 15, 2011. From 3:30PM onwards, come to the park to engage in yoga activities led by Yoga for Life founders Charmaine Cu-Unjieng and Paulo Leonido, and to participate in the candlelit ceremony at sunset. This event aims to raise HIV awareness in the country.
Why yoga, you ask? Yoga poses, breathing techniques, and guided meditation actually play a part in instilling a sense of discipline and community to those affected by HIV and AIDS. Proceeds from the event will benefit the HIV community, through services like yoga classes, meditation sessions, and HIV and life-skills counseling.
Yoga for Life began in June 2010, and is the Philippines’ first community-based yoga program for persons living with HIV, as well as others who support them and the cause. To date, the community has grown to over 300, as Yoga for Life continues to reach more people and build a community of advocates who, through yoga, share their energies towards living positively and living well.
