Let’s admit it: a lot of us want to look, feel, and be sosyal. And while it can be hard to be at par with Heart Evangelista or – let’s push it – Duchess Kate Middleton, you can always imbibe the aura of class on a daily basis with these tricks:
1. Get enough sleep.
Sleep may not seem to be related to being sosyal, but think about it – have you ever seen classy women look haggard? Continuous lack of sleep can make you look older than you really are in the long run, so best get yourself at least seven hours of shut-eye every night.
2. Put on the right makeup for you.
And when we say the right makeup, we mean using the proper shades for your skin tone as well as the right formulation that can address oiliness or dryness (or both). It may take a while to find the right products, but testing several and finally getting the one you're hiyang with will be so worth the investment.
3. Dress appropriately.
Your OOTD doesn’t need to be totally designer. Mix expensive pieces with your favorite ukay-ukay picks to create a look that’s totally your own. Make sure that your clothes fit well, or else you’ll inevitably look sloppy.
4. Stay well-groomed.
If you regularly walk or commute, you'll probably end up looking like a mess when you get to work. To avoid this, make sure to head out in comfy shoes and in a shirt you’re okay to sweat in. Just change and freshen up once you get to the office.
5. Always be calm and collected.
Admittedly, there will be times when you’d love to recreate those highly gratifying sampalan scenes from Pangako Sa ‘Yo, but instead of losing your cool and your poise, be classy enough to end the conflict calmly. Doing so definitely pulls you a few levels up the sosyal ladder.
6. Get just enough food at buffets.
Buffets may tempt you to put every kind of food on your plate. Stop the urge to go takaw-mata and just get the amount of food you know you’ll be able to finish. No need to go wild over anything – you can always go back and get some more later if you wish.
7. Be gracious…
…And respectful. Being sosyal doesn’t mean that you have to be isnabera. It means that you know well enough that you need to treat others the way you want to be treated. Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty with decent work, and don’t shy away from interacting with strangers no matter what their stature is in life. There’s nothing more sosyal than a person with good manners and a kind heart.
