Macbook or Sony Vaio
« on: January 09, 2013, 12:06:36 pm »
hi guys, i was thinking of buying a new laptop but im torn between the two because both has good specs naman. yun nga lang may kamahalan ng konti yung macbook pro pero if sa price na 50+k, mas maganda ng specs yung makukuha ko for sony vaio na laptop. anyway, i just need opinions like pros and cons for the users of vaio and mac since never ako naging user of these brands. my current laptop is asus and so far, super okay nitong laptop ko. need ko lang kasi mag upgrade because gusto ko sana, dala ko siya palagi sa school kasi para makapagnotes while naglelecture yung prof.

- ano yung mas okay na battery (i think eto yung mac kasi it lasts for 5hr while vaio is 2-3 hrs only)
- ano mas magaan (i think macbook pro)
- ano yung maganda specs (i think vaio)
- ano mas okay na OS (mas sanay po kasi ako sa windows, so baka vaio, for me)
- meron na din po akong ipad, itouch (so do i need to buy macbook pro?)
- durability (no idea)
- how many years naglalast (no idea)

what i have now is yung ASUS, mabilis naman but the problem is, yung battery niya, sobrang bilis, kailangan talaga nakasaksak the whole time kasi kung hindi for sure, mamatay siya, at mabilis din siya uminit, and kakareformat lang niya kasi bumagal siya for sometime dahil nilagyan ko siya ng movies.

thanks sa mga magrereply at magbibigay ng inputs! =)

^If you prefer good graphics for pictures and watching movies or something to sync with your iphone and Ipad, I'd go with MBP (Macbook Pro).  I am currently using Mac book pro and for iMessages I would normally using mac book pro instead of Iphone pag nasa office lang basta connected sa internet.  The iMessage automatically syncs both my iPhone and MBP.

I also have the my contacts on my iPhone automatically sync with MBP using iCloud.  Pero in case of the Microsoft office, same with Windows, you have to separately buy the installer.

Mac book pro does not allow .exe programs kaya walang virus.  I have not own any Vaio so my vote goes to Mac book pro.

I have a Vaio. Been using it for almost 3 years na. Hanggang ngayon, never ko pa siya pinareformat or something.

But I'll be buying Macbook Pro on Saturday para mapalitan na rin yung Vaio. A friend kasi recently bought one and she's saying na super okay raw talaga. Worth the price.

Joining this thread since I have the same question. My last 2 laptops have been Sony Vaios. I've used each for roughly 3-4 years & I'm quite satisfied with the performance although I heard from others that the Vaio's weakness is the CD/DVD drive and that the customer service is a bit lacking if your product was purchased abroad (& was not released locally). All my other products are apple already (iPhone, iPad, iPod) hence the option to switch to a Mac. Still undecided though. For the long time Mac users, what is the usual life span of the Mac book's battery? Yun kasi yung nauunang ireplace sakin pag laptop.

I've had mine for about 3 years (MBA) and I've never replaced the battery.  The VAIO I've replaced the LCD twice.

Also my prob right now. Choosing between MBA mini or Vaio Pro 11. I want something handy kasi, since I'll be using it around campus. Mas magaan daw ang Vaio, pero how's the typing experience on both? Medyo ito kasi important for me :D

I have both and I prefer the MBA.  If I were to buy another laptop it would definitely be a MacBook or another MBA.

sony is selling viao kasi gusto nila mag concentrate sa smartphones and tablets. so for me i'd go for mac. mas stable for after sales service unlike sony na ibebenta na.

maganda din po yung sony vaio yan nga yung last kong laptop hassle lang yung screen (LCD) madalas ako magpapalit - ito yung challenge talaga, may kanya kanya namang edge ang macbook at sony so for me both are okay naman

get a mac. pc's kasi compromise quality even if you max out on the specs and pay top dollar there'll always be that one thing that won't just run up to par with the quality of a mac. that's the difference with apple products, their ecosystem is just so well synced and quality controlled-the right hand knows what the left hand is doing.

Ended up getting a macbook pro. Mag 1 year na sya sa akin. It took some getting used to (kasi first macbook ko) but I'm impressed with the speed. No more waiting for the start up. I also love that the keyboard has its own light so I can use it at night even when all the lights are out.

Mukhang maraming MBP at saka MBA users, ah. :D

True enough, naka-dalawang taon na ang MBP ko, and yes, I'm still keeping it. (: Hindi rin ako a-arte sa Sony Vaio laptop.

Macbook user here, almost 2 yrs old na MBA ko. I am a huge laptop user because I teach, so ang prep and delivery ng lectures ko lahat using my macbook. I've had 3 personal laptops before this one (HP, Dell, Lenovo) and I always had issues with them, bumabagal, nagkacrash, and very virus prone. With my MBA, I never had those problems kahit minsan umaabot na lang sa 1GB yung memory ko lol. And feel mo talaga yung difference with the speed. I chose air vs pro mainly because of the weight kasi I always bring my laptop everywhere as in literally everywhere

depends what you're gonna be using it for... I'm the secondary Mac specialist at work and we hate it every time someone would get a Mac and then complain because some program they are required to use is not compatible.
