Pasalubong whenever you go back to Phils
« on: September 07, 2016, 12:06:14 am »
Hello everyone! I'm not sure if there is already a thread about this. I just need you opinion or experience on what you actually do regarding sa pasalubong kapag umuuwi kayo sa Pinas.

We'll be going home early next year for our wedding. Almost all our families abroad are going home. Maliit lang naman yung family namin so I actually plan to buy something for everybody lalo na yung mga pamangkin ko. I also plan to bring some stuff for my closest friends.

Some of my friend's kids inaanak ko so I plan to have something for them but most naman hindi. I was just thinking if I am "obliged" to give something din sa kanila.

Kayo mga sis, up to what extent kayo nagbibigay ng pasalubong? We're on a budget din kasi since ang gastos magpakasal and we'll be coming from US so pamasahe pa lang talaga malaki na ang gastos.

Thanks in advance! :)

May kamaganak kami meron pag may time at pera. May mga uwi din siya na wala pero di naiba welcome home namin sa kanya ke meron o wala.

@Shinies. That's a great advice. I plan to send small balikbayan box and bahala na sila maghati-hati. I bubudget ko lang allowance ko since mas priority ko magtravel with my family.

chocolates, or bags and perfumes to your friends , t-shirts sa mga male relatives, depends on you, ako I usually look and shop for sale items then iniipon ko na lang when going back. Usually Nine west is cheaper abroad, esprit, giordano, some branded stuff that ranges from $10-30. DI naman lahat yon, depende if sino lang bibigyan mo, the rest pwede na chocolates.

For sure iPhone ang madalas na hingin as pasalubong since naka plan ang mga phone sa overseas, pwede ng palitan after two years. But the thing is palaki na ng palaki ang iPhone. Sana meron pa ding small version like SE.

i usually bring my family 1 major item na magugustuhan nila. for example, jewelry, or gadget or kung ano gusto nila. medium-priced lang. basta something that i know they will like.

i dont bring them a lot of pasalubong, katulad ng iba nating kabayan na pati underwear and chinelas (no offense meant, just an example) inuuwi pa sa pinas. super stressful kaya mag excess baggage, and they have the means naman to buy themselves what they want. yung saktong something lang to show them that i remembered them while i'm away.

Tapos the rest na pampasalubong lang, food na to represent the country. since andito ako sa UAE,  ang inuuwi ko is the chocolate covered dates with nuts inside and camel milk chocolates. super patok yun sa mga friends and relatives kasi it's something na kakaiba. i also bring baklava pag may time ako dumaan sa Deira.

We usually bring chocolates, cookies, t-shirts, a few canned goods, bars of soaps, toothpaste that we buy on  bulk.
