Back in 2002 I'm probably in the same situation like most of you.
I want to go on my own. I want to have my own business.

I'm sick and tired of working though the salary as computer
programmer is good. And I know to reach financial independence, I
need to have my own business.

But it wasn't easy.

We're basically trained and educated to be an employee and being
an entrepreneur is completely different. Mentality particularly.

So what I did is read as many books, learn from other
entrepreneurs, and just do it. Like in everything...

...sa umpisa mahirap.

In early 2005, I was in Starbucks in Tagatay with my then
girlfriend (now my wife.) If you've never been there, they have
this patio over looking Taal Volcano. It was really nice.

While sipping a hot coffee and enjoying the fresh air I told my
girlfriend...

"My dream is to have a business where I can just bring my laptop
here in Starbucks Tagaytay, do business, and make a lot of
money."

It was really just a dream back then since I have no clue what
kind of business can do that for me.

In March 2006, I learned about marketing, and how to start a
part-time business that will give you full-time income.

Again, in the beginning everything is difficult. The information
is overwhelming.

I worked hard. Learn and fail fast. Until one day...

...I finally made it.

I started making serious money working just an hour or two a day.
Until I'm making about P250,000 a month part time.

I scaled up my business, systematized it, and hired two people.

After a year or so that part-time business was making little over
$10,000 or about half a million pesos a month… and I’m still
employed.

For the first time in my life I had a 3 months vacation last
December with a budget of more than half a million to spend just
for vacation.

Life is good!

Being employee can't give you that.

My point is this start dreaming, start planning, and here's the
key...

...JUST DO IT!

You'll stumble no matter how much you prepare. Just learn from
your mistakes, stand up, and move on.

Believe in yourself and the God who created you.

hi escapee, nakaka inspire naman yung story mo. :) It actually help me and inspired to pursue it more. ..I am into online freelancing and affiliate marketing ...I am currently setting up a business now targeting local market...that offers domain registration, website hosting, SEO and pati na rin training program...

I agree with you, it's about having a goal and pursuing for that. Hindi talaga madali but with God's grace everything will fall into the right place... :)

I'm actually in a mission now on inspiring people to do the same.

I believe that if I can just help 1,000 people to build a business with 10 employees, that's 10,000 jobs for Filipinos.

At least before I die, I can say that I did my best to help this nation.

God bless all entrepreneurs in the Philippines.

I started an hour or two.

The thing is, when you're thinking to start a part-time business you have to design it where you can operate it in "part-time" basis.

That's what I did and that's how I develop a business that helped me quit my job.

It's an online retail business.

Not far different from a typical retail store offline, it's just that I sell it online.

But really, it's not what business I'm in but what business is the right one for you.
