Wedding Budget

How do you come up with a realistic wedding budget? Is it possible to have a nice (and I mean nice, not fancy) wedding for around $5,000? What are areas you can cut and what are areas you shouldn?t? Food is important to my fianc? and I and from the places I?ve looked up, food seems to be the more expensive section of the budget. I plan on going with a dress that?s around $400. Any advice and tips would be much appreciated!
