What's your Christmas spread?
« on: November 30, 2017, 01:54:57 am »
This Christmas, what will be the dishes you serve to your family (extended family)? And what are your 'must-have' traditional dishes - any meaning to why you have them? just wanted to start our own family tradition :D

our family staple is standing rib roast, twice baked potato with shrimp, sauteed mushroom or stuffed mushroom, strawberry pretzel salad.  we just add-on pinoy dishes to that (for the adults, hahaha), like for this coming xmas eve to add chicken sopas and chinese style sweet ham.  then all kinds of bread rolls, cookies and cake.

sounds like a labor of love! na curious ako - what's the strawberry pretzel salad? is that real pretzel w strawberries? salt and sour/sweet?

we normally have ham, chix, and roast veggies for the oldies - and leche flan, which my kids still have to learn to love.... I'm trying to jazz it up a bit but need to make sure not too fancy that the kids (6 and below) would be turned off.

it?s a dessert with 3 layers: crushed pretzels with butter at the bottom, cream cheese whipped in the middle, strawberry and pineapple in gelatin as topping.  Salty, creamy, sweet and sour.  I use Paula Deen?s recipe.

Pork rib or pork rib is the rib of a pig, which is cut from the rib of the pig and has meat on it. This is one of the cuts of pork. This is a common ingredient in Asian and Western cuisines.
