Title: best dsl connection
Post by: Kitty on September 14, 2010, 01:36:00 pm
Hi sisters. I need a really good dsl connection to manage my online job. PLDT mydsl isn't available in my area, unfortunately. Any other suggestions?

I guess depende yan sa location mo.  There are places na maganda ang connection ng Smart, may iba naman na okay ang Globe.  I suggest you survey around your location kung anong mas ok na broadband connection.

I have the same Q. What's the best internet connection in Ortigas area?

if you have the option to choose sky broadband or bayantel, choose them na lang. they've got great service. believe me you'd regret subscribing for pldt rin. but the best pa rin to ask are your neighbors.

^there are times na down and sky, pero ina-adjust nila yun sa bill kaya kahit papaano napapakalma nila ako before. hehe! pero now with bayantel, it's so much better. and pldt sucks talaga. super!

munoz ako. 999 ang 1Mbps ng bayantel. walang landline yan. 10pm-6am ginagawa nilang 1.5 Mbps pero you have to reset.

^ that's great to hear. but still, since i use the internet for work, may backup pa rin akong broadband.

if you don't have access to bayantel, sky na siguro ang next best. is there another?

Checked with Globe earlier, since we are interested to get the WIMAX kaso daw naka depend lang daw sa signal ang WIMAX at recomended nila pa rin ang line so we are comparing between Globe Tattoo or Sun Broadband the one naka line, hopefully makakuha kami ng mabilis na connection sa place namin para sa homebased job.

Please don't ever get wi tribe.. Don't even put it on your option. NagSisi
ako.. I'm bind with them for two years.. I still have a year to burn my money with them..
Title: Re: best dsl connection
Post by: babyjapnurse01 on September 22, 2011, 04:12:01 am
^ I used to be a wi-tribe subscriber and I didnt pay a single cent after I asked them to terminate my contract.

Overview lang ng kaso ko with wi-tribe :)

We subscribed sa wi-tribe last year mga around August since it took Smartbro months before they could fix our antenna na nasira because of a typhoon. So may free trial banner outside our village, contacted the agent and had the unit with us for a week for free trial, it was okay nung una, when I signed the contract and paid, dun na nagsimula lumitaw ang intermittent connection, strange.

It went on for about 4 months, called their hotline several times and wasted so much airtime charges for it only to be given the same reason -- we live in cavite and there are no established wi-tribe sites here yet which explains the intermittent connection, they dont advise pa daw na magapply na agad ang mga residents in cavite for a plan with wi-tribe, e anubeh, pano naapprove yung application ko kung hindi pa pala pwede diba? and bakit sila merong mga banners around our area kung di pa pala talaga dapat covered, right?

Nung sobrang napuno na ko, I asked them to terminate my contract, they asked me if i can look for anyone who can take over the contract nalang. Ang labo, how can I recommend the service to someone na ako nga mismo ay hindi satisfied diba?

Until we found a thread in tipid pc that covers yung mga clients na hindi satisfied with the service, actually they also have a facebook page (search Wi-tribe complaints) and all other dissatisfied customers are there to help everyone who wishes to terminate their contract.

So after reading all the messages there, I didnt pay my bills, ang nabayaran ko lang talaga is yung unang payment which was 3k if im not mistaken. Bill blew up to almost 15k because I chose the 3k plan per month, nakareceive ako ng letter from a collection agency (law firm sya somewhere in taguig) demanding me to settle my dues blah blah. I didnt budge. Dahil sa thread ng Wi-tribe sa tipid pc and sa facebook, we found out na may pending case pala itong Wi-Tribe sa NTC, and oras na hindi ka satisfied sa service nila you can tell them outright na ipullout ang unit, wala kang babayaran, not even a single peso. Wi tribe is guilty of this, they cant even send someone to pull out the unit dito sa bahay, mag-iisang taon nang nabubulok sa bodega yung unit. haha! :D

^ you dont need to go directly sa NTC sis, madaya talaga sila and you cant really maximize what you are paying for. yan nga ang major issue nila eh. you can ask them to terminate the service if gusto mo na iterminate nila.

Help mga sis, I just applied for Globe 3MBPS + Landline and they just installed the modem yesterday and internet is running but the speed I am getting plays from 0.35 to 0.46 mbps only. We haven't signed the job order because landline is not yet installed.

I called Globe customer service and they said that I should be able to get at least 60% of my subscribed speed ONLY after my account has been activated. Meaning, I need to sign the job order that confirms that dsl and landline is already working and that's the only time my account will be created. Eh what I am worried about is once I signed that paper, they can now activate my account in a week or so and if my account has been created, I am thinking that I am already bound to follow their terms and conditions, such as termination fee..etc. So I told them na we need to see that the speed should reach if not 3mbps...at least 2.50mbps naman siyempre because that's we are paying for. So I asked them "Kapag na activate na yung account ko, ibig sabihen ba nun, may termination fee if I decide to close my subscription since hindi na reach yung speed na in-avail ko?" Sabi ba naman ng CS "we dont disclose any information regarding that".... Kaya medyo na frustrate ako.

I am just worried na baka once ma activate account ko, hindi pala totoo yung mare-reach ko yung max speed once activated na. Eh dati with PLDT, when we tested the internet, wala ng activate na kailangan, kita agad yung speed.

Totoo kaya na makikita ko lang yung real speed kapag na activate ko na yung account with them? If I only get 2 MBPS, i'd rather downgrade to 2mbps speed na lang diba? Any idea if possible mag downgrade without any fee since di naman activated pa yung account ko with them? Help!

our home is connected to bayantel dsl for three years now and it's up to 1 mbps and it's fast. well, there was a time the connection dropped intermittently. they're upgrading daw but after two annoying weeks, the connection is as strong as ever.  :)

We're now using Bayantel since we moved to Valenzuela. So far so good. Compared sa line ng mom ko na super old na, mas consistent ang internet namin probably because bagong install. Mag one month na ito this month. Ang sabi pa they will allow upgrades daw on their modem mid October, kaya yung mga modem nila eh gagawin nilang wireless.

We have PLDT dsl at home and so far, no problem.

They say maganda daw yung sa SKY though I haven't tried nor seen anybody use it.

Post by: WanderingShinobi on October 24, 2011, 11:25:42 pm
I already posted my issue in this thread. My account with Globe was activated last Oct 5, 2011. Initially installed Oct 3 but no service yet so tech came back oct 5 to activate my account and tried to set up the dsl.

I am updating my post to a more detailed version, this is what I sent to NTC yesterday morning. Sorry, medyo mahaba.

I would like to file a complaint against Globe Telecom for their DSL / Landline service for a number of reasons:

1. Faulty service for both Landline and DSL since installation date (October 5, 2011) , No Internet Connection, Landline incoming call not working, then lost its dial tone
2. Very poor customer service and system
3. Billing customers for No Service
4. Mishandling / Abandoning customer problem
5. Improper documentation
6. Inaccurate / False information

Here's the story:

Installation date was Oct 5, 2011. Internet works during that time but Landline incoming call is not working so he said he will come back to fix it but never did. We didn't sign the job order sheet because the service is not yet working properly.

But later that afternoon, when we check the DSL, it's not working anymore, we got "PPPOE authentication failed". Reported the problem last October 6, 2011 for no internet and landline problem. Whenever I call, they can't entertain it because they always ask me to call back after 15 mins then they will tell you to call after 2 hrs then 5 hrs...and so on. This happened a couple of times already. Once I was able to get hold of their support person, I reported the technician who didn't come back to fix our landline service. And what's more frustrating was, the CSR told me that their record indicates that the service has been installed and working properly. I asked "where did you get that from...saan niyo na based yang info na yan?, we didn't sign the job order sheet so the job order should still be open" CSR said,it came from their technical support group. So I guess the technician coordinates with the tech group then tell them whatever he wants to say and the technical team will consider it true, even it's not. So the job order sheet is a useless sheet after all, it doesn't prove anything.

I also reported the DSL problem. They generated a report and schedule a technician for an onsite visit but it didn't happen. They informed me that there's a network activity (network cabinet fix) going on in my area that's why the onsite visit has been cancelled. I will be getting a call once it has been restored.

October 10
I got a voice recorded message on my cellphone informing that the network in my area has been restored but when I check it, still I have no landline and internet. I was only able to take note of the ticket number during my follow up call last October 10 to report my internet and landline problem. I had Joy on the other line to assist me. I filed the days I don't have service so I can get a deduction from my bill. I filed October 5 - October 10 as no service days. During this call, they informed me about my bill: P500 installation fee, P2295 as advance payment for October 6 to Nov 5 service and an additional P66.10 for service usage last October 5, 2011 due on Oct 26, 2011. She informed me that my next bill will be on December because of the advance payment.

Then proceeded to discuss my service problem. She informed me that according to their system, there's still a network issue in my area. So I was asking how come I got a message informing me that everything is good? So again, she generated a report and informed me that a technician will come over the next day to fix the problem but no one came. Again, same excuse, there's still a network activity going on in my area and I will be getting a call (it's actually just a voice recorded call) once it has been restored and a technician will call me to schedule an onsite visit.

After waiting for 4 days, Alas, still no service, no onsite technician, no updates from Globe support. It's like it's always my obligation to check back with them.

October 14
I again filed the days I have no internet (from October 10 - October 14) but this support person is now telling me that I can only file it once the second bill is available. He said I will get my next bill on November. But the previous CSR told me that I won't get any bill on November? So I got frustrated because these people are confusing me and not giving me accurate information. I will be billed on November for Nov 6 to Dec 5 cut off. Then December for Dec 6 to Jan 5 cut off. I also complain why I can't file my "no internet days" while the previous staff was able to file it for me. They can't answer me clearly, all they keep saying is "That's the correct process mam, we can only file it once we can view the 2nd bill and the adjustment will only reflect on your third bill".

After a long discussion about the bill, I am again ranting about my internet and landline problem and how come no one's fixing it. As usual, they will send a technician to check the so called network cabinet and they will call me to schedule an onsite check. I just let the days past, I got tired of following up with them because of no help, I feel that they're abandoning my problem, no one ever updated me of any progress about the cabinet thingy.

October 17
I got in the mood and called again to follow up and complain why no one is calling to update me. According to their records, it says "the customer is uncontacted"  means
no one is answering when they called my number. I didn't believe this because my cellphone is always open and there's no missed call from my history. But another version of excuse came from the technician himself. He said "Naplatan ako ng gulong kaya hindi ako nakapunta". He said he will visit us tomorrow, Oct 18.

October 18
I called again because we've been waiting for the technician and no one came. Ms Aisha informed me that there's a problem with Globe network cabinet in my area and network restoration is currently ongoing. I asked them if I can close my account without any termination fee. They said that once they see that my area is not serviceable by Globe, they will not charge me for any termination fee. Okay, I was relieved but still, I badly need a fast internet and a working landline and I can't wait for more days for them to fix the problem. It's been almost 3 weeks already with no service from Globe.I even got an automatic text message after the call:

"Sir/Mam, there is an ongoing network issue in your area. Schedule onsite repair will be cancelled as our technical team is already working on the restoration of the service.
We apologize for the inconvenience. Rest assured that will inform you once service has been restored. Please keep your lines open."

October 24
I called up and I've been complaining that no one is updating / calling me whether the network has been restored or not. According to the staff, the network has been fixed. Ok so how come they didn't inform me and no onsite visit again? I finally requested for a supervisor.

I talked to their supervisor. He said "I really apologized because upon checking nga sa mga job orders niyo, wala nga pong nag u-update or tumatawag" Okay, so they only
realized that now?  Anyway, this supervisor assured me that they will take my issue as a 'Special Case'.  So again, they will send a technician on October 26, Wednesday. We ended the call.

Then I called again (same day) because I forgot to tell them that I have an ultimatum. I want to tell them that I want it fixed this week or else considered my area as un-serviceable and close my account. But I wasn't able to talk to the same supervisor again so I talked to their acting supervisor named Sheila. Here's how it went:

Conversation with Sup this afternoon, October 24, 2011. (important part only)

Me: "So what time?"
Sup:  "Mam, between 1 to 8pm po yung visit ng technician, bali they need to check the cabinet first and they will call you to schedule an onsite check"
Me:  "What!??"
Me: Kaka check nga lang nga ng cabinet eh! Ang point kasi bakit walang onsite check after the cabinet?, Ok?
Me: "Until this week lang ito, if you can't fix this, please consider my area as "not serviceable by globe" and close my account!"
Sup: "May termination fee ho eh kasi within the lock in period yung pag request"
Me: "Eh bakit? Hindi naman na install ng maayos yung service, It never worked! Since the day it was installed, walang service, wala kaming nakuha!l...wala! "
Me: "According sa isang nakausap ko, if hindi serviceable ang area, they will close my account without any fee"
Sup: Ibig sabihin po, may facility po ang Globe sa area niyo to allow you to connect to their service
Me: "So nakakapag connect ba ako?, ano?"
Me: "Okay"

I don't want to deal with these people anymore. Since October 5, they never sent me any onsite technician, it's always been the legendary cabinet that they want to check and when it's fixed, no one will update me, no onsite technician so every time I call, we need to go back to Step 1 which is to Check The Cabinet...We're just just going around in circles.

They sent me the bill, they're also requesting me for 2 months equivalent (2295 x 2 + 5000) termination fee if I want to close my account which is not fair at all. They gave me so much stress and wasted too much of my time. Even if they can fix my DSL and landline if ever they come tomorrow (Oct 26), I am worried that once I experience another problem with them, I would have to go through all these process over and over again. I can't rely on a DSL service that goes down for almost a month or even longer. You can see how they abandon a customer problem just like that. They seem to be following a script and written process that they can no longer think on their own. They even locked me for 24 months while I only indicated 1 year lock in period in my application form. They admitted that it was a mistake. I reported this earlier around October 4 and talked to their supervisor but the last time I checked with them, it's still at 24 months lock in.

Even if they can make it work tomorrow, I still want them to close my account because their service is very unreliable and customer support is very poor, they abandon customer problems which is not good. I feel that I am talking to a robot whenever I talk to them. They need to close my account and not charge me for anything because the installation is unsuccessful and the service never worked!  >:(

^ I actually updated my post to a more detailed one. Actually, those are just the most important calls I had with them, may mga follow up calls pa ako that I didn't note down, kasi puro follow ups, checking for the status of my lock in period, and about billing issue only.

I sent my story to NTC already, hopefully sana mag take action sila and help me. Do I also send this to DTI? Sana man lang bigyan ako ng Globe ng goodwill after nitong stress na binigay nila! But I still don't want to continue my subscription with them na lang. Bukas not sure if may pupuntang technician. Kahit maayos nila, I can still close my account diba? Kasi ayoko na ulit maulit ito.  :(

Got a response from NTC na, they will take the necessary action to resolve my problem with Globe! Sana nga because I just called this afternoon and they still want me to pay P9590 as termination fee. Grabe!

Sabi ko nga "Anong termination fee? Eh from the start terminated na nga yung service kasi di nga gumagana eh from the day it was set up". Mga robot talaga sila.

And as expected, supposed to be may naka sked na technician today for onsite visit, Supervisor na yung nag set niyan ha? Ayun as expected, walang dumating. Ang reason? Same thing ang walang katapusang yugto ng "Network Activity" nila!  Wow, since October 5 up till now, Network activity pa rin. Sana ma terminate license ng Globe for bad business practice.

a tip I could share sa lahat ng andito, once report nyo rightaway once you guys experience faulty/intermittent service whether sa internet pa yan or whatever, and make sure you guys take note of the ticket number na they would give you as the tracking code of your report.

nagtaka ako nawalan ako ng dsl connection pero gumagana naman landline phone namin. when i ask pldt ang sabi daw nakarestrict ang dsl connection pag ndi nababayaran agad ang bill 5 days after the due date. tapos need daw sila tawagan ulit pag nakabayad na para marestore ang connection 24-48 hrs daw bago mareconnect ulit. ang hassle naman ata. they should have informed us beforehand sa bago nilang rule.

^Hopefully.

I have Wi-Tribe for more than a year now. I usually get 4-5 bars and so far, it's been very consistent but watching youtube is a bit tedious as loading videos are really slow going . It might only be good for browsing, facebook, chat, and email so I am looking for a 2-3Mbps connection but I picked Globe and I really regret it.

I am now considering either PLDT or SkyBroadband. Gusto ko sana sky but I am not sure about its reliability, mixed reviews din kasi. They said sky is ideal for average users who don't do online gaming and torrents. Consistent kaya yung 5-12 mbps ng Sky?

Do you guys know if its possible to apply for PLDT DSL using my mom's existing PLDT landline with internet? Kaya ba ng splitter yun para I don't need to avail their landline?

I will try BayanDSL this time, sana ok!

As for Globe, no updates or whatsoever, I think tatawag lang sila para sa bills, well sorry sila di ako magbabayad! I think Globe and Smart if their customer support is like that - abandoning customer problems, it looks like no one is monitoring them kasi kahit supervisor walang action sa problem, I think, acting supervisors lang siguro sila, agents lang din mga yun.

We're subscribed to digitel dsl. Laguna area kasi kami. So far so good. Quick naman ang responses every time may issues, which so far twice palang in a matter of a year. Originally, plan ko is pldt dsl kaya Lang sabi sa office nila in our area Hindi nila kami abot. :(

There's nothing best... because your internet connection is dependent sa area mo.

Go for one that works in your area. Ask around.

Sa place ko, PLDT is the one that works best. May Globelines din dito, but I've seen it's performance at the same Mbps and PLDT is better.

I have friends who are happier with Globelines than PLDT.

Those wireless internet, they only work well if the weather is fine and you are on a flat terrain. They are affected by weather disturbances. Pag umulan o bumagyo it fails.

^ Baka maraming gumagamit sa neighborhood ninyo? Could be a factor lalo na kung peak times.

If you are downloading torrent (and/or any others doon sa home wifi network ninyo) at nagbabrowse ka rin, then it could slow down your connection.

Title: Re: best dsl connection
Post by: momentum on February 23, 2012, 08:37:55 am
^ di ko pa natatry yung speedtest sis, mamaya pag-uwi ko, i'm at work now eh hehe  :P

Title: Re: best dsl connection
Post by: freelancer_babe on February 23, 2012, 08:45:09 am

Plan 999 is 1 Mbps, so dapat at least 600Kbps ang download speed mo (don't look at the upload speed anymore). If it goes equal or below that, tawagan mo na ang PLDT technical support.

Yung torrent, nakakabagal talaga yan. Ganun lang talaga ang mga torrent. Kung nag-da-download ako ng torrent I do it kung tulog ako or idle ang internet connection.

we've been seeing globe's customer service lately to complain on our globe tattoo superstick. postpaid na nga pero there are times na naka 2g lang. especially at moa, if i'm at the south side (say near cafe adriatico or sa open activity center sa gitna), 2g lang yun. super bagal! of course, if i'm nearer globe office, 3g na.  :(

just done a speedtest ito yung mga lumabas:

Your Preferred server : Ping: 384ms, Download speed 0.20 mbps, upload speed 0.012mbps

recommended server: ping: 800ms, download speed 0.12mbps, upload speed 0.03 mbps

sounds bad? :(
ano ba yung hotline for pldt dsl? i tried calling 172 walang kwenta, magtext daw ako sa 77171
Title: Re: best dsl connection
Post by: freelancer_babe on February 24, 2012, 03:23:37 pm
^ I'd follow yung "recommended server" readings. And yes, mababa ang download at upload speeds for a 1Mbps connection. Baka may sinasabay kang YouTube or something. Kailangan idle ang internet when taking doing speedtest.

Yung ping pa lang masyadong malaki (384ms); usually below 100ms lang yan.

Call 171 na lang; not 172. Pwede rin ang 77171 textpress. I think mas mabilis na ata ngayon sa 171. Yung textpress 77171 naman, sila ang tatawag sa iyo after texting them.

^ Kawawa ka naman, I hope maayos agad yan.

You can try to ask your neighbors with PLDT DSL if they are experiencing the same problem - if they are, then may problem sa area ninyo,; if not, sa line mo.

Kung hindi agad naayos ang internet mo after reporting it sa customer support (several hours to days downtime, I don't remember the minimum rule) then ask for a rebate para maliit lang ang babayaran sa bill. Tatawagan mo nga lang ang billing to grant you that.

luck or location lang talaga Sis. pero I heard yung mga naka-NGN mas mabilis daw talaga. I dont know if it's true.

sa house ng parents ko (Binondo), may 2 lines - same subscriptions and plans - 990.

yung line 1, parang 1299 yung profile in terms of DSL speed. yung line 2, tamang pang 990 lang talaga.

may neighbor kami, plan 990 sila pero since yung owner works in PLDT - yung speed ng net nila parang plan 1995.

Before - PLDT , grabe I hate their service. Madalas nawawalan kami ng net and pag nireport minsan inaabot ng half a month bago sila umaksyon. Araw araw pa ko tumatawag nun ha and our plan is 2k+/month. I have to use my cellphone pa eh ang tagal ng hold sa customer service nila

Now - Smartbro postpaid, Im happy with it. 999/month, no landline(we dont need it anyway). Its fast, it rarely loses connection. And customer service nila is superb! whenever may problem I can report it online and theyll give me a call within the day
Title: Re: best dsl connection

From our experience:
Sa tagaytay, good signal ang globe pero dsl but they put caps on time but they are denying this, smart dsl postpaid signal, so far no problem. Pldt dsl, witribe dsl good sa malate, pasay area.

Sky is ok except when it rains a little hard (even not in our area), we lose signal most times.

And pldt has better speed, so we switched.

^ ah, that's the problem with wireless connections, any wireless network has that problem.

@pinkk is right, depende kasi sa location. like in my case, bihira lang ako magkaproblem sa PLDT naman, pero sa area namin yung mga Globe subscribers ang pumapalpak.

yun lang, like you di ko rin gusto ang CS ng PLDT. nakaka frustrate rin silang kausap.
Title: Re: best dsl connection

^ kundi naman iinit talaga ulo ko... CS on the phone is aware of my problem na di compatible yung modem nila sa security cam ko. Sila na nagsabi... Tapos ang gusto nilang gawin ko is pumunta sa business center to request for another brand/model of modem. Sabi ko nga, why cant they make a report/work order in my behalf since alam na sila yung issue. Di daw nila ginagawa yun.  Wow. Pahirapan pa ang customer.

So i said i want to terminate my subscription nalang na 1 week old palang. Ayun, pupunta nga rin daw ako sa business center to do that, and also pay 3 months ng plan for penalty.  >:(

Heart attack!  >:(

Eto pa pala, i also subscribed for the "mobile" wifi thingy. Forgot the term/name eh.

Follow-up ko sana pero im afraid of the 2 words nga: business center! Na walang malapit sa amin! Naman!

So to those potential subcribers of pldt mydsl, please be aware.

We use Globe DSL sa Antipolo house namin, the box is right outside our gate kaya mabilis din ang speed. Sa Mandaluyong naman, we use PLDT, we subscribed to business ADSL para maganda service, so far, minsan lang naman mag drop out, mga once pa lang in the 2 years we;ve had it.

Yes, pldt dsl customer service is really nakaka high blood.

Sabi ba naman sakin, yung Device Manager mam, alam mo yun? in a very condescending manner. D ko nalang pinatulan.

Another one I talked to, (I was asking to transfer to another platform) sabi I cannot request for that service. It was not until I said, "So wala kang magagawa para sakin?" Tsaka lang cya nagoffer na gumawa ng report about it.

End result, pinaputol nalang namin. Kulang ba sila sa training or orientation?

^ yung tech guy that we hired to set up our security cam na mabait at super mild mannered na high blood din sa kanila. Na shock nga ako nung "nagtaray" sya. Hehe.
Sabi nya - siguro naman boss marunong ako mag basa maski paano!
He was on the phone with pldt cs and was asked to read the brand and model of the Modem. So binasa nya kung ano naka print sa unit mismo.
Sure ba daw sya sa brand kasi di daw pldt issued yung modem namin. Nyek! We have box and the resibo from pldt mismo.
In the end, Eng-eng yung cs, mismong brand ng modem nila eh di alam.

Even their technician who first came to the house to setup the modem was eng-eng. inabot ng almost 1 hr kasi di sya maka connect. Pldt sent me a messenger ata not a technician.

I am a new subscriber of Globe dsl and and very satisfied right now with the service except for one. Hindi nilinaw nung account officer sa akin before na on top of the 1k na installation fee ng bundle, may P500 pa na installation for the wireless router. So that means total of 1500 na installation. Nung tumawag ako, ganun daw [textspeak!] ang iniissue for residential area and need pa ng additional P500 installation fee for the wireless one, yung may antennae, for wifi signal. Other than that, okay naman service ng Globe DSL. Okay ang speed, kahit nasa baba yung router and nasa 2nd floor yung room natin and magkabilang side pa sila ng router, mabilis pa rin connection ko. So mag 3 months na silang nagchecheck.

new pldt mydsl customer dis-service rant!

it has been 5 days na that we dont have internet. pldt said they'll send a technician over on tuesday after lunch. fine, my brother skipped work so he can be home to let the technician in.

lumubog na araw, no sign of any pldt.  kayo na nag-set ng date and time, kayo pa sisira sa usapan!

instead, you came the next day and without prior notice. kaya ayun, the maid didnt let you in.

now we have to sked again your visit that im 100% you wont be able to keep.

forget you, pldt! >:(

In terms of connection, PLDT ang pinaka-OK for me kaso nakakainis ang customer service nila. Pag may technical probs naman, more than 20x ata kaming tumatawag sa kanila bago talaga umaksyon. Minsan inabot ng ilang months bago pumunta technician nila sa bahay, my goodness.

Very loyal to smartbro but we cannot take the slow internet connection anymore. We even went to the center para magpapunta ng technician samin. Di naman dsl yun pero still, parang dial up lang kami, i think. Kaya now we changed to globe dsl.. Wala pa kasi pldt samin. But ang bilis super ng globe! :)

Crossing my fingers tight that PLDT won't be jumping on the bandwagon and implement that Fair Usage Policy. I don't really browse the internet much, but I download a whole lot (mainly through torrents), so it's going to be a big blow to me. And it's not even fair. I subscribe to a high mbps because I mainly utilize the internet for heavy use, so what's the purpose of paying higher if they're going to reduce my download speed? They're the ones offering different levels of mbps, so we should be getting the very speed that we paid for.

pero sa totoo pinakamabilis talaga ang pldt sa lahat, ang problema lagi may time out, nakakainis.

yung bayantel ko naman na 5mbps which i pay for 5k, mabilis din at ang nakakatuwa, pumapalo ng 8-9mbps madalas yung bayantel ko dito sa bagong nilipatan ko na place. dun sa old place ko, lagi 5mbps lang pumapalo.

si i really think yung area/place is a big factor in receiving a good connection.

Using globe now. So far so good in terms of connection, but I received my bill already for the half-month at merong charge na 99 pesos for unli BB. Tsk. Ilang beses na nilinaw yung plan na kinukuha ko by the agent, installer and some guy I talked to over the phone, and nobody mentioned anything about unli BB being included in the package. For sure hindi naman ako kukuha nun. Hope this gets resolved quickly. Nakakainis lang bakit nagkamali sila ng ganun in the first place. Sayang yung 99. Yun lang ang ayaw ko sa globe eh...they're so sneaky about these little charges (yung mga prepaid load na nage-expire when I KNOW hindi pa dapat, ballooning bills kahit hindi naman masyado ginagamit yung postpaid, etc. Ewan ko lang if nowadays they've taken action na to fix these "anomalies").

Title: Re: best dsl connection
Post by: hisana on July 17, 2013, 04:38:40 pm
Called the hotline about it. It's worse than I thought. I'm charged with an extra unli BB add-on,  activated daw eh yung free calls to TM and globe which I did not avail of, plus locked in pa ako ng 24 months. Gad, where the hell did they get that information. I availed of the basic 1299 plan with absolutely no add-ons, lock in period for 12 months only. Ang simple lang, di ba. Tsaka theoretically, if they're charging me an extra 99, so dapat lock-in lang nya is 12 months lang talaga (not 24 months, if free). So bakit I'm charged with the extra 99 AND I'm locked in for 24 months?! Tapos they're saying hindi pwede yung downgrade ng length of contract. I wouldn't be in this situation.

Grabe, the incompetence.
Title: Re: best dsl connection
Post by: msals2007 on July 18, 2013, 07:43:40 am
Ako nag avail ng unli calls sa globe and TM. P99 per month nga yun but they offered na free na lang basta I extend my locked in period, i cant remember if for another year o 6 months lang ata eh. I agreed naman so hindi na nila ko chinacharge ng P99 for the unli calls to Globe and TM.

Last month kasi na delay ako ng bayad i think for 2 weeks ata. When my latest bill arrived, may charge ako nasa 40 pesos ata. To think na di ba may advance payment naman tayo kasi upon installation you have to pay one month advance.
Title: Re: best dsl connection
Post by: little_princess on July 18, 2013, 10:25:54 am
hisana, how did you apply? kasi when i applied, they were pretty transparent with me na 24 months lock in period, free globe and TM calls, etc etc.. even the installer briefed me about this.
Title: Re: best dsl connection
Post by: hisana on July 18, 2013, 11:07:46 am
little_princess, I applied through their website and an agent got in touch with me. The irritating thing is, the agent, the installer, and another guy over the phone all offered the free calls with 24-month lock-in period, and I repeatedly said no, no, no to all of them. So okay, 12 months lock-in lang daw kung ganun. I said, fine, that's exactly what I want. I said I'll be availing of the 1299 package without any add-ons. So I was really surprised na ganito lalabas sa bill. And now they're saying they don't do downgrades. So ako pa pala ngayon may kasalanan! I don't know who screwed up, but I have email confirmation that I did not avail of any add-ons when I applied online, kaya hindi ako papayag talaga.

msals2007, thanks for the warning, ganun pala sila. Di rin ako totally happy with PLDT's customer service kasi ang baaagal, but in the years I had my account, I very rarely had problems with billing or the phone and DSL connection itself. Pag nagkaproblema nga lang eh sobrang tagal ayusin tsaka complicated pa minsan. Hay, mukhang every provider talaga has its major problems.
Title: Re: best dsl connection

cody23, good for you. I'm starting to think I won't be as lucky. Got an update on my complaint only now, after so many days. Tapos, instead of offering a reasonable solution, pinaikot-ikot lang ako, kesyo the BB Bundle is not an add-on. What the f*****g hell does he mean by that, so lahat ng new accounts may automatic na BB Bundle? Because that's the only explanation that makes sense with what he just said. And don't they have a record of my online application? Dun pa lang, klaro na what I signed up for.

To add, may mali raw sa info. Fine. This, I'm blaming the agent. Texted her, she's not replying. Well, nakuha na nga naman na kasi akong client, bakit pa nga ba sya mage-effort to help me out now ::).  Warning lang to anyone who wants to apply for anything sa globe: Just go to the center and apply there. Go to the center and do it in person, otherwise you'll probably suffer the same fate.

I wonder kung konti lang ba ang employees ng globe, or disorganized lang talaga sila, or they're really just all about the money.

I swear, the moment my lock-in period is over, never ever again.

Thanks, and good luck, minalas lang talaga ako sa kanila. Unahan mo na, pagdating pa lang ng installer, say that you don't want the BB Bundle! :P Globe is so slow to take action, even slower than pldt. Hay, kung alam ko lang. Nasa huli ang pagsisisi. I don't wanna pay for something I'm not gonna use, kahit 99 pesos lang sya. But one very good thing though is I'm satisfied with the internet connection itself.

Im not sure if this is the right thread... Ask ko lang if any of you mga sis experience na hindi umabot yung wifi connection sa 2nd floor (if nasa ground floor modem-router) or sa ground floor (if nasa 2nd floor naman yung modem router). Ano ginawa nyo?
Nag pa ka it kasi ako ng sky, and so far ok speed.

^ there are a lot of factor to consider to determine the maximum wifi signal

- structure of the house (grnd flr / 2nd flr) - is it wood? concrete? acoustic? or others
- type of wifi router / ap used - some have greater distance than other
- interference / traffic on the wifi channel you are using
- distance

there are application you can use on your mobile to test the area of wifi signal to get better location

some wifi router/ap gives you option for connecting external antenna to boost its distance

another option would be to put additional access point or repeater.

Title: Re: best dsl connection
Post by: cody23 on October 08, 2013, 10:05:10 pm
^ yes dsl nila meron na rin. They have consumable plans yung certain amount of data traffic allotted per month. And the other is yung daily cap, as i remember yung 1mb speed is 3gb cap, 2mb is 5gb, 3mb and 5mb is 7gb.

One thing you have to be careful though, they claim cap are reset at midnight daily, but there are times this doesn't happen.

Between ground floor and second floor is pure slab-concrete.
The modem-router provided by sky.
No antenna.
Hanggang first landing ng stairs yung wifi.
Is there such thing as compatible repeater for the modem-router i am using?
Title: Re: best dsl connection
Post by: cody23 on October 09, 2013, 08:43:55 am
^ this would depend on the type of router you have, some model support wireless repeater some don't. In case it doesn't your next solution would be to get an AP (access point) and put it downstairs and connect the router and AP via physical wiring.

BTW, if you can find a cheaper AP than router that would be good, otherwise an alternative is to use a router as an AP.

BayanDSL user here... they have great customer service. Organized sila. Bihira lang ako makakareklamo sa kanila na dropped ang connection for a long time.

Isa lang flaw napansin ko.. I get disconnected only when the phone from the bundle I have is being used at same time when I'm online.. and I get reconnected automatically when the call is finished. But its no biggie for me :) At least hindi umaabot ng minutes to hours and disconnection.

PLDT for me, stable talaga. I had smart broadband postpaid as back-up pero pina-cut ko kasi mabilis lang nung lock-in period. After nun wala na, mas mabilis pa yung prepaid.

Been a loyal PLDT DSL subscriber here but it's really upsetting that we've been having an  intermittent connection for 3 weeks already, and despite the numerous complaints via phone calls they received from me, they're not sending over a technician to personally fix the problem.

Currently nasa plan 1299 ako ng Globe which is 2mbps plus landline and since my loyalty promo sila, nagdagdag sila ng 0.5-1mbps. But lately, nagiging unstable yung connection. What do you think about it guys?
Title: Re: best dsl connection
Post by: msals2007 on May 26, 2014, 03:11:58 pm
Parehas pala tayo sis. Usually after 2 to 3 days before dumating ang technician so sobrang hassle talaga.

Since monday pa nag di-disconnect yung net namin. Parang nag ta-trial and error lang. Last na siguro to. Hihi.

I wish the telecom companies would shorten the lock-in period for their DSL and telephone services, ang tagal e, it's usually a minimum of 2 years.  Hassle when you're renting and you have to move tapos hindi pa tapos yung lock-in period, ang laki pa naman ng pre-termination fee.  Pag nicompute mo yung penalties e lumalabas na binayaran mo yung monthly charges until the end of the lock-in period kahit di mo na gagamitin. :(

Update on smart bro. It was very slow sa dati naming location (valenzuela). then we recently transferred to ortigas. Based on the technician who transferred our antenna baka daw overloaded na yung server sa lumang location namin kaya mabagal na.
Now dito sa bago naming house we get the max 1.5mbps on our plan 999. What sucks is the Fair usage policy. bago mag end of the month nasa .5mpbs na lang ans speed namin because weve already consumed the 15gb allowance. That FUP should be abolished  >:(

Hi. Question mga sis. Anong dsl connection ang mabilis sa pasig? Iyong around pasig city hall. I guess depende sa area.

Sky o pldt pinagpipilian niya. Thanks.

Same reason din kung bakit papaputol ko yung globe ko when I move. Rude and inefficient ang technicians. They're so unprofessional and dishonest, sinabi ko talaga sa kanya yun. I want to try Sky, sana okay sila sa katipunan area.

XD

Naka sky 16mbps kami ngayon so far okay naman siya.

I posted this din in the Globe thread.

We recently switched to Globe DSL from PLDT DSL and so far I think it's the best decision I've made.

We were PLDT subscribers for 13 years and mahal ang binabayad tapos inconsistent service.

We recently got Globe DSL's 1599 plan for 15 mbps with 150 gb data allocation. Though 12 to 13 mbps lang yun nakukuha talaga na speed, it's still malayo sa 5 mbps plan namin with PLDT na binabayaran ko for 1,800 plus.

Sana tuloy tuloy 'tong Globe DSL. Happy talaga ako so far.

Manila area ako sis, Sampaloc to be specific.

In my case, Plan 1599 ako with 15 mbps. On ordinary days, 12 to 13 mbps lang speed ko. Once na-cap 4.5 mbps na lang until mag reset na ulit on the first day of the following month. Basically, once ma-cap, unli internet ka at 4.5 mbps.

Though matagal bago ako naconvince na lumipat. Kasi every time I visit Globe's FB page, puro reklamo nakikita ko. Tapos I saw yun new plans nila and nacompare ko sa PLDT namin ang laki ng matitipid. We don't even use our landline na nung PLDT pa kami kasi bawat dial sa labas may bayad. I even locked the outgoing long distance calls to make sure lang na hindi na kami lalagpas ng 2k sa bill sa PLDT. Sa Globe naman free calls sa Globe and TM, so yun, medyo leap of faith din. Haha.

Haha.

^ meron kayong nakuhang chromecast?

^ Meron sis. Nun nag install dito sa bahay may dala na sila Chromecast. Gamit na gamit ko na for Iflix ko and Netflix naman kaka email lang ng activation code nung 15.

Though sad wala Spotify Premium na freebie. Netflix and Hooq na yung free tapos 6 months.

was using pldt before shifted to globe and now back to pldt. speed-wise dito sa area namin i'd say wala or negligible difference. parehas na mabilis ang globe and pldt. now sa plan naman kaya balik kami sa pldt is heavy user mga tao dito sa bahay. nung nasa globe kami halos everyday na-re-reach namin daily cap agad (globe had a daily cap before, not monthly like dun sa current plans) and most of the time we had to call globe para i-reset yung speed since supposedly automatic dapat yung reset ng speed to normal plan speed after around 12am everyday but madalas hindi nangyayari yung auto-reset so naka-cap yung speed namin. eventually i grew tired of calling globe cs so back to pldt uli para no cap.

We've been using PLDT DSL for several years now. We started with them before but their Internet connection faltered so we switched to Sky with the cable bundle. It wasn't good so we tried WiTribe. They had good connection however they closed.

So we went back to PLDT DSL and it was great for several years until 2017, their service has deteriorated once again. We keep reporting but they still haven't fixed it. I'm using it for work so it's a hassle whenever their internet connection is halting or worse, gone. My back up is SMART LTE which is better than PLDT (although sister company) though there are times too that it's not working (rarely).

What's a better alternative for internet service provider in QC area, near Trinoma/SM North to be precise? I saw Sky has a new one in their commercial but it's a mobile router and since we didn't had a good experience with their internet, I'm not sure if it's the best way to go. Bayantel has switched to Globe right? Is it good if we go for Globe? I don't know what else is there. Can you suggest the best one for work purposes? I know there are other companies that are really for work providing internet service but they might only provide for companies instead of home-based work. I'm considering switching to PLDT Fiber but what if their service is as bad as their DSL? Sometimes I feel like they are doing it on purpose so you end up availing their new and faster internet plans.

we have been using pldt dsl for years but it's time to move to Fiber.
Up to 25mbps, unlimited volume allowance at 1500 per month.

Cheaper sila than pldt fiber (plan 1699 is 5mbps lang)
Sana lang maayos kasi may 2yr lock-in period eto.

Ang mura sa Converge ah. So far, I'm happy naman with Globe broadband. Madalas nacacap ako lately because of streaming, pero nasa almost 5mbps pa rin naman once capped. So keri lang. :)

How does capping work with globe?

So far wala ko marereklamo sa download and upload speed niya. Ranging between 27 to 30 mbps lang lagi to think ours is the cheapest fiber plan na to up to 25mbps lang.

Last week, 1 day nawalan ng connection I'm not sure if related eto sa current issue with international submarine cables. Good thing hinde pa disconnected yung PLDT DSL namin.

We are not gamers so hinde namin ramdam yung feedback na maLag daw to sa gaming.

100mbps for first 6 months tapos back to 50mbps pag lagpas 6 months na. So far mabilis minsan umaabot pa ng 180mbps lol.

Pero may backup kami na Globe DSL. In case na magsumpong si PLDT
