Nope! Not yet. I always make sure na secure ang site. (there are a number of ways to verify)

^^ OMG!  :o

kaya minsan nakakatakot gumamit ng CC.. kahit daw sa mga restos nangyayari yan. kasabwat yung ibang crew. they have this thing na nakaka copy ng infos kapag they swiped your cc sa bagay na yun.  :-[

as much as possible.. kapag gagamitin ko cc ko, dapat andun ako kapag nag swipe sila. para lang makasigurado di ba?

kung OL naman sya na hacked.. pwede mo itawag yun sa bank and declare it as fraud. makikipagtulungan naman sayo yung bank eh.

not yet.  i hope it won't happen to me, either.

kaya ako, policy ko sa sarili ko is to use the cc on trusted merchants only.  like sa department store, supermarket, etc.  kahit sa mga resto at boutique inside the mall hesitant din ako to use my cc.

They make a copy of the card itself kaya ingat tayo sa pag abot ng cards natin sa mga establishments, maganda sana na makita natin na i-swipe. For internet purchases have a separate card, meron yung BPI na card specially for this :)

1 time in the office, the credit card company asked to speak with me and asked:  Ma'am, where is Mr. ___  (hubbie) now?  I replied:  Sitting across the room in front of his desk.  Why?  Apparently someone was using his card big time, the past 3 days in Indonesia.  What triggered the inquiry was that on 1 day,  his card was likewise being used in Turkey -- in an unending series of shopping.

We have been subjected to fraudulent card use so many times,  usually after overseas trips.  Good thing we have card fraud insurance.  And i make it a point to inform the card company of our departure and expected return dates; as well as the countries/cities we will be hitting.  When we get back,  I write the card company that we have returned and I also give details of our last credit card use.  That protocol has saved us a lot of headaches in proving that certain card charges are fraudulent.

Hubby asked me why it never happens that when we are abroad,  the cards are fraudulently used.  I said perhaps because while we are using it and the fraudulent party is also using it -- baka magkasabay or it appears in the computers it is physically impossible due to different locations -- so aabangan yan and huli!  Definitely,  kami makaka alpas.  Credit card crimes are dealt with harshly, specially in 1st world countries -- kasi napaka hirap mahuli eh.

The latest info how our critical data is taken -- is that the magnetic hotel cards contain the room no.  our name as well as our credit card data.  Some hotels ask for the return of the cards upon check out.  The danger lies in there if the data is not overwritten immediately -- someone can simply bring these home and scan the data thereon.  It is said that when asked for the return of the magnetic hotel room cards -- refuse, as in refuse.  It is unlawful pala for the hotel to insist on the return of the hotel room cards.

Sorry, forgot Sis CATI --  pagdating mo,  xerox the cards you used abroad together (same sheet ha) with the last credit card slip charge for each card -- tapos I have it faxed with the notation na --

Please fax back to (my fax no.) if these sheet/s
                   received  clear and complete

Xerox the fax that is faxed back to you -- andun ang fax number ng credit co. -- and
file this proof that you informed them you are back.

Of course, best to send a copy of the fax by messenger (to be duly received) some day too.

But it is okay to just fax and confirm with someone in that card company on the phone.

Ngayon, specially pag sa East Coast or Europe (ewan ko bakit ganon basta ganon) -- delayed ang appearance ng charges -- so you have time to list down the dates and stores (even country kung lumipat lipat ka)  where you used your card.  Give the card company a list of this -- so kasi kung minsan pa-clear pa from abroad certain charges -- eh nababara agad mga fraudulent charge dito.

kakatakot talaga ma-hacked. Last time na umuwi ako pinas, I see to it na kasama ako sa pag nagsswipe.

parang same line din siya nung CC mo because it will be included in your statement of account, but it uses a separate number from your original CC, so your whole credit line won't be compromised. You can adjust the credit limit to your convenience. Online purchases mo lang siya pwede gamitin.

grabe this happened na to me thrice!

1st time was 2 or 3 years ago, my BPI card was charged a hotel bill in Hong Kong, pero I didn't go to HK anytime that year.

2nd and 3rd time was just recently. I got my bill from AmEx and saw that I was charge $350++ by ticketmaster.com. I called AmEx and asked for more info about the charge. My god, di ako babayad ng $350 for Eric Clapton tickets!

After that, I saw another charge in my next bill. Software Developer yung name ng merchant for $19. File na naman ako ng dispute.

This really irks me because it's such a hassle to file disputes for these things. And instead na babayad ka ng maayos, you keep making calls pa to verify and contest the transaction.

Kaya my advice, if you wanna shop online, use PayPal if you pay by cc.

for online purchases, i prefer merchants that accept PayPal. but sometimes, i have no choice...there are still a lot of merchants that do not accept PayPal (amazon, for one).  in this case, i make sure that the site is really secure and is a reputable one.

one indication that a site is secure is that the web address begins with https instead of just http.  ofcourse that alone does not assure anyone that everything is 100% safe.  you should still take other precautions.

we've become a victim of cc identity theft once. it was a US based cc and they were the ones who called us up for several unusual charges on our card. they were quick to act on the matter and we didnt have to do anything on our part.

basta they asked if we made those purchases etc... when we said no, they immediately cancelled the cards and sent us new ones. no hassle at all. sana ganito rin sa manila.

whenever we go abroad and intend to use our cc, we also call the cc companies and advise us of our travel destinations and dates.

and when we plan on making a big-ticket purchase, we also call ahead and notify the cc companies.

when we used to get paper statements, i made sure that they were shredded before thrown out.

I've been using my CCs extensively both here and abroad for the longest time but after our Europe trip last year, Citibank called me to inform me that they were going to change my CC because they received an alert from Visa that my CC might have been compromised during the trip.

BTW, every time I go out of the country I inform the bank. Most probably that might have helped detect any attempt to hack my CC.

yung mga waiters nga daw binabayaran every card na ma swipe nila sa mga duplicating machine to get all the info sa  card mo.

if something is unsual sa billing report agad para ma i credit back at ma file ng fraud yung card mo. tapos they will replace your card naman and new card number. so blocked na hindi na magagamit ulit yung card na nacompromise.

I am a cc user for more than 5 years, so far, wala naman problema re: hacking.. i use cc for local purchases and for payment of hotel abroad.. ok naman..

dun sa mga na-charge ng di ginamit ang card, you can demand for the charges slip signed by you.. yung pinipirmahan natin after purchase..yun kasi ang evidence ng cc company na we have legitimate usage of the card.. pag wala ang original signed, it cannot be used as competent evidence.

my Amex got hacked about 2 months ago. i was charged for more than $300 for a ticket to Eric Clapton's concert in Los Angeles. I was in Switzerland when the charge was made. ang mahirap na part was the ticket was bought online daw. i filed a dispute, and within a week, the charges were reversed. Dunno how Amex proved that it was an unauthorized charge, but I'm glad they did :)

This year, my HSBC CC was used to purchase tickets amounting to Php24,000 via CebuPac.  I filed a dispute with HSBC and the amount was removed from my bill after 2 months, including the finance charges incurred and they cut my existing CC, and replaced it with a new one - without a fee.

Last year naman, my BPI CC was used to purchase stuff from Amazon.com, I used to buy stuff from Amazon pero during that time wala naman ako binili, so nagulat ako bakit may ganun sa bill ko.  I filed a dispute, okay naman naprocess din nila, though hindi nila nireplace yung card ko, and I was told na if I want to replace my card due to this incident, I need to pay a replacement fee.

I had a similar experience with two of my CCs. First yung isang card ko may sunod-sunod na charges from fastfood outlets across MM - from MOA, Megamall, Libis to Fairview - in two days! >:(

Sabi sa akin baka may nag-copy ng cards ko when I used it in a restaurant. True enough, the last time I used both cards was in a restaurant/grill. I gave my first card to the waiter tapos after a couple of minutes he came back and asked for another card kasi may "problem" daw sa system nila and they can't connect to the bank.

Hay. Kaya be careful when using your CCs in a fastfood/restaurants... dapat sa establishments na lang where you see them swipe it or where you can keep an eye on them when they use it.

Last year, my credit card was hacked din! I am not sure how it happened. Dalawa lang naman yung pinaka recent transaction ko during that time. One is buying stuffs from Human Nature using my credit card and I also used my card to pay my bills at Pizza Hut (forgot the branch). So I dont know where they got my card details while the card is with me. When I got my bill from HSBC, a total amount of 28k showed up and nasa GBP pa yung currency. It was used to purchase Binoculars and other stuffs from a UK online store. Anyway, HSBC reversed the charges naman, so its okay na.  ;D

ewan kung nangyari na sa inyo ito. A cashier from an IT store scratched my credit card against the carbon copied sales invoice kaya nacopy ang credit card number at other info ko dun sa sales invoice. When I saw it i protested pero sabi nya normal daw nilang ginagawa yun.Now upon backreading this topic kabadong kabado tuloy ako na baka mahack din ang card ko. Ano kaya dapat ko gawin. Gusto ko na tuloy ipacut yung card.

my eastwest bank cc got hacked too last april 23. nung gagamitin ko na nung apr 25 ayaw ng tanggapin. tapos nung may 7 i received a text message from EW na pinapa-confirm yung online transaction ko with bed, bath and beyond amounting to $265. grabe, na-shock talaga ako and i immediately sent them a dispute letter, as advised by the customer service rep. 45 to 60 days daw ang maximum na investigation. pero every week kinukulit ko sila. someone told me na pwedeng connected sa eastwest yung gumawa nun kasi ang dali nga naman mag-online purchase. you just need the credit card number, the expiry date and the last three digits found at the back of your card. i've been with EW for three years, sakto namang nangyari ito after i received my renewal card.

Some people really do scratch the three digits sa back ng CCs (or even debit cards na pwede sa Mastercard or VISA networks) and just memorize them. Kasi ganun, yung three digits na yun ang ginagamit sa online transactions but not for POS.

But I'm still gathering info kung talagang ok lang. Anyway I have another CC na pang-online transactions talaga which is a sublimit of my main card and is just kept away.

Hi! Re: Card Verification Value (CVV) or Card Verfication Code (CVC) - 3 numbers at the back of the credit card.... is it really ok to scratch them for security purposes? anyway how about applying a sticker to hide that part? I plan on doing that however i will check if that will be okay for the merchants since they don't need that number when swiping anyway.

Sisses, be careful also when you apply for a new card and the agents will ask for your CC to be photocopied, make sure that they only photocopy the front part and NEVER the back part.

Never happened to me at 'wag naman sana!

My Visa card is Verified, I've used it a couple of times on amazon.com.

Metrobank has the OTP facility, when you use your CC for online shopping it will send a One Time Password to you registered mobile number, and you have to enter that OTP for the sale to push through. Haven't tried it though.

Use Debit Cards for online purchases :)

the advice we get naman is to never use a debit card. kung debit kasi, nawala na yung pera at mas mahirap siya habulin. unlike CCs.

in the US, talamak ang identity theft. and because talamak siya, mas madali siya ayusin. usually thieves would charge smaller amounts; once it exceeds $100, according to someone i know who was also once a victim, that's when it'll get investigated.

my cc was hacked before. nakakatawa pa, i don't use that cc often and they made a purchase on itunes eh wala naman akong itunes account. hassle pero hindi ganun kasaklap yung process to contest it. i just provided an affidavit of fraudulent activity transaction and my bank issued me a new card. according to the person i spoke to, sometimes hackers chance upon numbers so minsan din kahit anong ingat mo, kung mamalasin ka, walang magagawa. in more extreme cases, like my aunt, when the company that handles her accounts suffered an ordeal like the recent problems with target, she ordered a freeze on her accounts.

I don't do this and I don't recommend it. It doesn't stop the hacker from stealing from you. The only difference is that the money automatically comes out of your bank. Mahirap na habulin. Credit card purchases, you can always dispute.

My citi card has been hacked. A few days after reporting it, nareverse nila charges.

Ang Citi customer service walang kwenta, walang magawa. Hintay pa daw na magpost yung transactions before they can file for dispute. Tapos bwisit pa yung isang CS, baka daw I have kids na ginamit card ko (so pinagbintangan pa niya yung anak ko na hindi nga naglalaro ng online games at walang access to computer, laptop or ipad).
