SELLING EXPIRED COSMETICS
« on: October 16, 2012, 07:57:25 pm »
hello mga sis, i want to ask your opinion on this unfortunate situation that happened just now.

I bought a preloved make-up here in GT. When i applied it on my cheeks, i saw chunks of glitters on my face and it wasn't anything like the reviews/swatches I saw online. I thought it has expired already so I researched more and voila, it turns out, this particular Mac item was manufactured last 2007 (batch code A37) and correct me if I'm wrong, this expired last 2010 considering  a shelf life of 3 years. (or is it 2 years? for a powder blush?)

Seller was saying, back view photo of the item was provided but then the batch code was barely readable. Plus, I am not some make-up junkie hence my knowledge in cosmetics are very limited, and I didn't know what these batch codes mean until hours ago. I'm not a fan of mac cosmetics btw.

Tell me mga sis, tama ba na HINDI I-DISCLOSE NA EXPIRED NA YUNG ITEM, OR BETTER YET, TAMA BA NA MAGBENTA KA PA NG EXPIRED NA ITEM?? which btw she claimed she knows it is expired, pinakita pa daw nya yung batch codes at nasa buyer na lang daw yon kung bibilhin pa or hindi!

okay, it's my fault for being ignorant on these stuffs but IT NEVER CROSSED MY MIND THAT SOMEONE WOULD SELL AN EXPIRED ITEM! seriously?

I can't believe how sellers would still sell an expired item. i mean aanhin mo ang panis na gatas kung di mo maiinom?  ???  (i must admit i made this mistake too but have edited my post to remove the expired item, i got it kase from another GT sis months ago not knowing it was manufactured years ago na din pala).

--

so, you'll tell me, it's my responsibility to properly research first before buying anything online.. okay lesson learned! in fact na-trauma na ako bumili na ng mga preloved MUs! :(

but, that's not the issue here. it's a seller selling expired items w/o properly disclosing it in her post. yun lang.

--

oh, ask your dad, your husband, your boyfriend, your lolo and lola, your neighbors, the tricycle driver, ask them if they know what A37 means in your mac makeup. if that makes any sense!!

--

[EDIT]

i've thought about posting her name or not, but im doing it now to warn other sellers since she clearly has an intention of selling expired cosmetics and ika nga nya, Nasa buyer na lang yon kung bibilhin pa o hindi.

cutiecam name nya here in gt.

^ true!!

or it's like selling counterfeit items, showing the actual photos of fake items, but poor buyer doesn't know how to spot fake and authentic ones!

i mean what the hell would you do with an expired makeup?! and why sell it pa in the first place? tsk

IMO, people should not be selling expired anything at all.
Sana naman, we do our best to behave in this forum.  As in, hwag mag -lokohan, hwag mang-isa.
Hay Naku, caveat emptor -- buyers beware nga.

Sorry for your bad experience. But thanks for bringing it up, para ma  forewarn iba.

omg! that is so bad  >:( , why is she selling expired items? naka lagay ba sa post niya na expired yung items niya?  :-\   is she has any intentions of refunding your money? mahilig pa naman din akong bumili online, and even dito sa gt bumibili din ako ng make up, sino kaya tong seller na to so we are all aware.
That's the thing about pain, It demands to be felt.

I also encountered a seller here that sells expired makeup items. Of course hindi naman siya naka disclose and we can't blame all of them kasi baka hindi naman nila alam. Good thing alam ko yung expiration date or shelf life ng makeup so nalaman ko agad na expired na yun without checking the item.

Eto lang naalala ko but I hope this will help you:

foundation: 2 years
lipstick: 1 year
mascara : 3 months

Nags start to once na open na yung item. Kapag hindi pa, pwede pa siya.

@ kiz_me1109, thanks for that info sis! but if i'm not mistaken (according to dr. google), unopened make-up should good for about 3 years only. (and mascara for a year).

re the seller, seller admitted she knows she's selling expired make-ups. and again, nasa buyer na nga lang daw yun kung bibilhin o hindi. tsk.

@ beatrize zuri, she will stand her ground daw of doing the right thing - that is by showing a photo of the batch code (which again, you can barely read the code) but failing to state that it is indeed an expired item. kawawa naman yung ibang nakabili din kung may binebenta pa sya na expired makeup na wala din alam kung anong ibig sabihin ng batch / product codes na yan.

@ aquacharly, yes beware nga talaga sa seller na ito. up to now she believes she didn't do anything wrong! hay. thanks sis.

This is the reason I rarely buy from GT. madali kasi akong mag allergies eh baka mamaya mas malaki pa magastos ko sa gamot kesasa natipid ko.

Nangyari na sa kin to. Bought expired Posie Tint which came with an expired freebie. And mahal pa benta ha?

Di na ako nagsalita sa kabuwisitan ko but swore never to buy from that seller again.
Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.

buti na lang hindi pa ako bumibili online. since beginner pa lang ako sa make up make up na yan. sinusubukan ko muna yung mga nasa malls na drugstore make ups.

sana wala na siya mabiktima pa. mga sis, if okay lang post dito yung seller's site or name para mawarn naman yung iba.

Hay nako i just saw this now.. nakakawalang gana.. alam ko technique nang iba pa is selling something they say is new, unused dahil "backup" daw un pero sa totoo lang nagamit na pala. Beware talaga sa ibang gt seller laging may issue about makeups in particular. Oh well.

Ohh! Akala ko 6 months-1 year lang shelf life ng foundies! So hindi pa pala expired mga makeup ko! hahaha ;D

Akala ko expired na yung akin, and even though they were used a few times lang, I never thought of selling them. Tsk tsk.

at saka isipin nyo rin yung tinagal nung make up sa store bago mo nabili. good thing nabasa ko ito, naparesearch tuloy ako ng mga shelf life ng make up!

sa kanyang nagbenta ng expired make up, though hindi nya alam, refund na lang dapat kasi hindi nyo napakinabangan e.
