this been going around on social media:

"Time to get to know the Filipino people...unbelievably resilient, long suffering, good natured, uber friendly, loyal, ingenius, and a bunch of survivors.

"At the end of the day, the Filipinos will just shake off the dirt from their clothes and go about their businesss...and SMILE. They do not complain much, they will bear as long as they can.

"Maybe this is why they were given the 'privilege' of bearing the burden of the strongest typhoon ever recorded.

We are organizing a relief operations for Tacloban! Starting today we will be accepting relief goods (rice, canned goods, drinking water, clothing, toiletries, blankets, towels).

For those who wants to donate but doesn't have time to drop it, we can pick it up from your place. Please text your name and address to 09088146313 so we can schedule a pick up for your donations.

Your help will mean so much to us, especially the people who have been affected by the typhoon.

Thank you so much and God bless you all!

I just got home from work and ngayon ko lang napanood sa news kung gaano kalaki yung damage na ginawa ni Yolanda. It was so tragic.  :( The situation of those who are affected is really agonizing, specially sa Tacloban. I can't help myself but cringed in pain sa mga nakikita ko sa news, it was difficult to watch.  :(

We haven't heard from our relatives in Antique and Iloilo. We saw photos of the damage in Roxas City, Capiz aside from those in Tacloban, Leyte. I wonder how the people in Samar are doing. Wala masyadong news pa sa ibang areas.

i dont know how i feel towards the looting incident happened sa Gaisano Mall.

i kind of understand if some people 'loot' the clothes, meds or food but  i was appalled, shocked when i saw on tv that some were even 'looting' the whole selecta freezer.  :(

Maybe survival instinct na lang din kasi they can't get immediate help from anyone, no water, no food, no lines of communication, roads were impassable. :( and I did watch someone say na walang silbi yun pera ngaun dun, kasi the place was like a garbage dump. I'm praying for all the victims.

But still Bangon Pinas!

It is instinct kung papairalin mo ang animal instinct mo.  Pero kapag malinaw ang self-respect mo, titiisin mong gumawa ng tama at hindi magnakaw even in the worst of circumstances.  Mahirap sya gawin kaya maraming nat tempt. Kaya it takes only outstanding people in an outstanding country ang nakaka resist magnakaw in crisis like these.

We will have clearer idea of this disaster over the next 24-36 hours. But the early stories on the ground are really grim.

So depressing.

Nothing, not even tragedies, can justify stealing. Does that justify stealing toys, tvs, and freezers? Really, they literally need those to survive? Haist, this is so sad and appalling.

What are the legit organizations to donate goods or financial assistance?

NOW ON ANC: Philippine Red Cross chair Richard Gordon says truckloads of relief goods attacked by unidentified men in Tanauan, Leyte

Gordon, PRC: Relief goods mobbed in Tanauan, Leyte could have fed 5,000 families.

Relief goods will really be mobbed.  When we went to areas before to help typhoon victims, we have to go through the local NGO para orderly ang pamimigay.

I really do not know if at all it is safe to go these places.  People want to help, but if government cannot fix the communication and peace and order immediately, mahihirapan umabot ang tulong sa nararapat.

In times like this, you can really see the best and the worst in people. Tulungan, walang lamangan.  Bangon Pilipinas!

Seriously? I won't make excuses to defend those people who stole from different establishments because that's definitely NOT justifiable. Pero I can't bring myself naman to think twice na bigyan sila ng tulong or ikahiya sila dahil napapanood ng buong mundo yung ginawa nila. We of all people, among other nations, ang dapat umintindi sa sitwasyon nila. We are fortunate and they're not. We guys should be sensitive sa mga sinasabi natin.

If cnn would see how these smiling looters actually enjoyed the chance to do their thing without consequences they probably would retract that sentiment.

Massive looting that does not have anything to do with hunger, thirst, sickness, personal hygiene......a lot of them are taking advantage of the opportunity to steal its just that some people showed their true colors.

and I thought the destruction in zamboanga city was big but this is even bigger.  Hopefully all assistance will arrive along with law & order.
