Modular Cabinets

Hi has anyone tried yung modular cabinets sa kitchen and/or sa closet? any feedbacks po:

- pricing: compare sa gawa ng carpintero and bili sa mga stores
- mas matibay ba compare sa gawa ng carpintero
- is it anay free?

any suggestion san maganda at mura magpagawa.

I still prefer doing it with my own karpintero. If magaling ang karpintero mo, quality is better at mas mura pa. Well, of course to avoid hassles ang mga gumagawa ng mga modular cabinets eh magaling talaga, they've mastered the craft. And most that i know offer warranty. Sa anay issues, every wood po can be treated naman. Pero lahat naanay pag nandyan na talaga.

Modular cabinets are modern but pricey and expensive while being done by Karpentero of course are a typical one cabinets. Our Modular kitchen cabinet in the condo was done by San Jose Builders and it cost more than 100K.

Sorry for that evilwoman for the shady works done on your cabinets. I have no idea whether San Jose Builders and San Jose Kitchen Cabinets are one and the same company. The one I contracted which is San Jose Builders which has a small show room at the 3rd floor of SM Megamall B opposite of former shop of a car accessries near the parking stairs.  So far I didn't encounter any problem with them and the kitchen cabinets and table top they made was more than enough and sufficient according to specifications we entered into.

evilwoman, napaisip ako sa comment mo. we currently are choosing between getting modular cabinets from san jose kitchen (with a showroom at sm north edsa) or having it built by a carpenter. ang problem namin, wala pa kaming mahanap na magaling na karpentero kaya naman stalled kami sa plan na ito.

budget is a concern pa rin pero gusto naman namin maayos ang gawa dahil kami mismo ang gagamit. infested na ng german cockroaches kasi ang condo unit namin (dmci) after only 4 years naming natitirahan ito. we found out lahat halos neighbors namin meron nang cockroaches sa mga unit nila.

The Modular Cabinets in our condo was made by San Jose Builders from Pasig. So far it's perfectly fine and we didn't encounter any hassle with the SJ during and after the installation at maayos naman kausap yong agent based in Megamall located on the 3rd flr in Mega B close to the restrooms and parking.

For modular cabinets, I always go to IDO Contracts/IDO (Interior Design Options), my former employer.  IDO Contracts handles modular kitchen cabinets and restaurant contract furniture and IDO handles furniture usually for residential use.

They use BLUM hardware with lifetime warranty and HMR (high-moisture resistant) boards for the carcases.  HMR is more resistant to water compared to ordinary MDF or MFC especially for the sink area.  If you really are worried about damages due to possible leaks, they can use VERSABOARD, but this is more expensive.  It's made of PVC and is fire and insect resistant; limited colors though (like 4 only).  You can use this for the carcases only then use MFC (plain colors or woodgrain) for the doors and exposed panels.

They do design and quotations for free so better if you send them your plan to know the exact cost for you requirements.  Visit their showroom na din kasi madami ka makikita there like accessories and lighting fixtures.

Quality, ok naman.  I was very happy when I ordered from them for some of my clients and here sa unit namin.   Service, ok din.  They are not perfect; minsan may delays, minsan may mali but overall ok pa din for me.  No company is perfect, lahat naman may flaws, and importante maayos pa din kausap and hindi super tagal yung delay or backlogs.

I tried enquiring sa Ideal home to have my kitchen renovated and oopps it's a whooping 350K quote. A friend of mine referred a guy who used to work with some big kitchen renovation companies and got a quote of almost 50% less than what Ideal home has quoted me inclusive of the same accessories and appliances.

Sis to start with, you can go to KicthenDesign/IdealHome sa MC Home Depot to ask for a quotation. That's what I did and was able to save up to 100K kasi pinagawa ko sa iba who used to work with other companies before.

I always tell my clients the difference between modular to non modular. When choosing modular, check what materials they use. Is it particle board, mdf, marine or versaboard? As mentioned before, versaboard is expensive second is marine. For counter top, are they using natural stone like quartz and granite or synthetic? How are they gonna hold up after 3 years?How long will it takes? Sometimes the production takes 3-4wks. Libre naman mag pa quote sa mga depot.
 
Now pag karpintero naman, i make sure na maganda o magaling karpintero. Ito naman less expensive and sure will last you forever.

kakapagawa ko lang ng kitchen ko. 300t siya. sadly, after 1 month lang, nagtuklapan yung baba kasi binaha. :-(

dapat pala sa carpintero ko nalang pinagawa yung kaha. yung cover lang ang modular.

now, naiinis pa ako sa pinagawan ko (Modular Fusion) kasi hindi na ako tinulungan ma aayos yung ilalim na binaha. :-(

ano bang maganda ilagay sa base? yung pwede sa baha? granite? aluminum?

Sa office where I used to work, we usually use marine plywood for kitchen cabinets, versa board as mentioned here is also good but very expensive. Second best na ang marine plywood because it can better tolerate moisture and is ideal for kitchens and toilets.

In our experience, kapag yung client bumibili ng modular cabinets, it's either made of particle or mdf and they tell us na it doesn't last long talaga lalo na kapag nabasa.. Namumulbos ang term namin..

Though we're not saying na kapag modular pangit na quality, pero make sure that when you go for modular, you are paying gor good quality materials.

Kung sa carpenter, ginagawa namin lalo na pag marami cabinets na gagawin is bidding. Sa magququote ng cheapest siya gagaw and hindi arawan ang bayad kung di by contract na which includes terms na kapag hindi okay ang gawa aayusin niy.. Sayo materials, sa kamya labor.

Pero kung maliliit na cabinets lang, 450-600 php na ang alam ko per day ng carpenter.
