You've got the curves, and now's the time to show them off. But of course, like with any body type, this is easier said than done. That's where experts a.k.a. stylists come in—to help us better understand how to dress ourselves.
And if we're talking pros, we really can't not mention StyLIZed Studio. Headed by fashion icon Liz Uy, the company's long list of A-list clients—like Anne Curtis, Sarah Geronimo, and Maine Mendoza just to name a few—is a testament to how good they are at what they do. That said, we asked StyLIZed senior fashion stylist Joy Bernardo to share her top fashion tips for curvy girls.
Check them out below:
1. Pay attention to small details.
"When going for sleeveless tops, the thinner the straps, the better. Thicker straps can emphasize the arms and give them unnecessary attention."
2. Choose a flattering neckline.
"When choosing which neckline to go for, I’d suggest going for v or scoop necks. These are the necklines that look good on everyone. They just give off a sexy illusion."
3. Show off your waist.
"For bottoms, either go with extra skinny pants or high-waist, wide-legged pants. There’s no in-between. Although baggy mom jeans may look cute on some curvy girls, they have to be extra cinched at the waist to still give that hourglass illusion. High-waist over low-waist any day; it’s always best to show off that waist."
4. The right cut makes all the difference.
"For skirts, go for A-line ones rather than fitted or pencil cuts. A-line skirts usually cinch at the waist then flare out, effectively giving you more room."
5. Heels are your best friend.
According to Joy, wearing heels with any outfit naturally makes the body look leaner.
Joy stresses though, that at the end of the day, pulling off a look is all about having the confidence to do so. "Honestly, there’s no right or wrong [ways to dress] up no matter what shape you have. As long as you believe that you look amazing, then you will definitely look amazing!"
