In a country where we spend most of our time basking in the sun's rays, a little chill is definitely a welcome respite. As we enter the rainy season, expect summer staples like cutoff shorts and flimsy dresses to be replaced by jackets, scarves, and other cold weather items—hence the term "transitional dressing."

Keep in mind, however, that the Philippines is still a tropical country, so while layering may be fun, sweating buckets and being plain uncomfortable is not. The key to getting transitional dressing right? Breathable fabrics, longer hemlines and sleeves, neutral shades, and, most importantly, layers that can easily be shed should the temperatures rise.

And if you think you'll need to spend a lot to get the look right, we say no, FNites! Throw a structured blazer over summer's maxi dress, cinch it with a belt, and you've got an entirely new outfit. And your favorite denim shorts? Wear it with a tucked-in button down and a cozy blanket cardigan to complement the cooler climate.

To get you started, here are 20 transitional looks from Banana Republic, The Gap, and Massimo Dutti to take inspiration from.
