1. Always use eye primers.
Using an eye primer will make eyeshadow colors more vivid and long-wearing.

2. Be familiar with the different formulas.
Eyeshadows come in powder, cream, and crayon form. If you’re a newbie or short on time, using crayon shadows or dabbing cream ones on the lids will get your peepers pretty, stat. Powder formulas are best applied with a brush and with a certain level of proficiency.

3. Know your tools.
There are various types of eyeshadow brushes. Domed-shaped brushes are great for packing on the color across the lids, while bullet-like brushes are made for seamless blending.

4. Go from light to medium.
To enhance your eyes, sweep a light-hued eyeshadow across the lid, and enhance the depth of your eye socket by brushing on a medium-toned eyeshadow. Don't forget to place a white or cream-colored shadow on the inner corners and to curl the lashes to create a wide-eyed look.

5. Stick to satin neutrals to brighten eyes in a snap.
For makeup newbies, go for the single-hued eyeshadow application using shadows in shades of champagne, rose gold, or pearly pink.
