Despite her busy schedule, Max Collins maintains quite a consistent skin care routine. She does this by sticking to the basics, adding a few products only when her skin needs it. Being wary of her skin type makes things easier for her as well, because she knows the issues her routine has to address. "I have combination skin so I always have to make sure to hydrate (or else it gets too dry), and I make sure to apply toner (or it gets too oily)," she tells Preview.

Moreover, the actress has her own approach with skin care that balances its simplicity and her love for beauty. "I've realized that it's okay to experiment with different products—whatever worked for me last year may not work anymore and that's okay. The most important thing is finding what works for you at the moment," Max muses.

Step 1: Cleanser

Max kicks off her routine with a good cleanser, and her favorite is a brightening one from MET Tathione. "This has helped lighten my freckles and sunspots over the years," she explains. She uses it both day and night—that's how much she swears by it.

After a full day of shoots and events, the actress removes her makeup with a dual-phase cleansing water. She raves about the ones from EB Advance, "It really gets [everything] off!"

Step 2: Exfoliator & Face Mask

When she finds the time, Max exfoliates her face with a kitchen concoction of coffee grounds and honey. "My skin is instantly brighter after," she says. Admitting that the process is quite messy, the results apparently make the clutter worthwhile. "It's actually like a mask, too, because I leave it on for a while just so the nutrients can sink in. It has a tightening effect as well," adds the actress.

Step 3: Toner

As mentioned, one of Max's must-haves for her oily areas is toner. She uses the C Lotion from Faces & Curves to prevent her T-zone from looking extra shiny and producing more oil than usual.

Step 4: Serums

The unique thing about her skin care routine is that Max prefers to apply serums in the morning than at night. She loves the Super series from Glossier that addresses hydration, breakouts, and dullness. "I alternate serums to give my skin extra nutrients," she explains.

Step 5: Moisturizer

This lightweight moisturizer from Kiehl's hydrates Max's combo skin like a dream. It's oil-free as well, which is why she likes using it for both day and night.

Step 6: Sunscreen

Whenever she's out in the sun, the actress makes sure she doesn't skip sunscreen. Her favorite is a brightening formula from Nivea with SPF50!
