Since she went blonde last April, Jessy Mendiola has been quite the hair color chameleon. She has since tried hues like ash gray and rose gold, before dialing it down again to a light brown. That said, the actress shares that the most common questions she receives are not about why she changes her color so often, but about how she achieves and maintains it. Lucky for us, she went ahead and answered everyone's hair FAQs with the help of her go-to hairstylist and colorist, Antonio Papa.

Tips for maintaining bleached and colored hair
First things first: Be prepared for the cost and process of coloring.
Coloring your hair, specifically bleaching it, is no walk in the park for both your wallet and your tresses. For example, Jessy had to bleach her locks five times to become ice blonde, so don't expect to be out the salon in two hours if you're hoping to achieve the same hue.
1. Use the right shampoo for your hair color.
To prevent your color from fading fast, use the appropriate products for your hair color. For light blondes, go for purple shampoo to avoid it turning brassy. There are also colored shampoos for brown and red hair, which will help maintain the vibrancy of your hair color.

2. Avoid combing through bleached hair.
Bleached hair is damaged hair, and you might notice an increase in hair fall. To avoid more strands from falling out, avoid using brushes and combs that will further provoke the weak hair.
3. Use conditioning treatments.
Color-treated hair is typically dry, which is why you'll need to incorporate a deep conditioning treatment in your routine to bring your hair back to life. Antonio recommends using one with argan oil to nourish your strands.
