For centuries, Asian women have been keeping their skin young and silky by splashing on rice water on their faces. The ancient method has been adapted by several oriental skincare brands because its gentle properties lift off dirt and plug in vitamins and minerals into your skin, thus reversing the hands of time. You can create your own version of this simple elixir recipe using two ingredients only and a bit of patience.
What you’ll need:
1 cup of jasmine rice
Distilled or filtered water
A disinfected, clean jar with lid
Rinse and wash away the rice with ¼ cup of water. Put the washed grains in a bowl, and pour in one cup of distilled or mineral water. Let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes. When the water has turned into a milky liquid, drain the rice (Don’t throw it away! You can still cook it for lunch!). Transfer the rice water in a jar and store in the refrigerator when not in use. This can keep until five days in the fridge. To wake up to cottony soft skin everyday, drench a cotton ball with this cleansing water every night.
