You mom's skincare stash always has a jar of cold cream in it. And we bet yours does, too. But what exactly is it about cold cream that all our moms, titas, and lolas are obsessed with? Read on!

What is cold cream?

Cold cream contains equal parts water and oil, and has other ingredients like jojoba and mineral oil to help moisturize dry, itchy skin. The catch? It's not suitable for acne-prone skin because it has a thick consistency and can possibly clog pores.

If you're wondering about the name, it's not because it's actually cold, but because it leaves a "cooling" feel on your complexion when you remove it. [Via HuffPost]

How can you use it?

Cold cream has stood the test of time. And it probably has to do with the fact that it's multi-purpose! Below, the eight ways you can include cold cream into your skincare routine!

As a makeup remover.

Cold cream contains oil, and we all know oil works as an excellent makeup remover. It's able to dissolve all kinds of products, especially waterproof mascara!

As a face cleanser.

At the end of the day, when your face is feeling dry and tight, switch your regular face cleanser for cold cream. Its moisturizing and cleansing properties will leave your skin soft, smooth, and hydrated! You can use either a washcloth with warm water or cotton pads to remove the cream.
