In an interview with PEP.ph on February 18, 2019, Yasmien explained the reason behind her chosen course.

"Na-inspire kasi ako dahil... 'di ba tumira kami dati sa Kuwait?

"'Tapos, nasa war zone kami dun, nasa Gulf War kami.

Yasmien first took up Foreign Service at New Era University, but was unable to keep up with her studies because of her showbiz commitments. She then transferred to Global City Innovative College, and shifted to nursing.

Her third course, Political Science, became her degree.

Yasmien finished it within the year she worked on the TV series Hindi Ko Kayang Iwan Ka, Cain at Abel, and most recently, Hiram na Anak.
