Vice Ganda has publicly apologized to broadcast journalist Jessica Soho on the May 29 episode of his noontime show It’s Showtime after he was told off by several netizens because of the “rape joke” he made about the newscaster on the I-Vice Ganda Mo ‘Ko sa Araneta concert last May 17.

PEP.ph reports that Vice had called Jessica on the morning of May 29 to say sorry, but the newscaster had declined to speak to him.

"Tinawagan ko po karakaraka kanina si Miss Jessica Soho,” he said on the show. Is it okay if I will call you later, tomorrow, or some other day?'Ang sabi niya, 'I don't think so (I called Miss Jessica Soho a while ago… I said, ‘Good morning, may I please speak with Miss Jessica Soho?’ And she answered, ‘Who is this, and what is this for?’ I said, ‘This is Vice Ganda.’ Then she said, ‘This is Jessica Soho. I’m sorry, I’m not in a good mood today.’ So I said, ‘Is it okay if I will call you later, tomorrow, or some other day?’ She replied, ‘’I don’t think so.’).'"

Vice then said sorry to Jessica on his show, hoping that his apology would reach the broadcaster.

I would like to apologize... and I promise that you will never be a part of the theme of my performances again),” he said.

He also apologized to the people who reacted violently about the joke, saying that he never meant to insult rape victims.

If you didn’t like my joke, I’m sorry. I’m not a perfect comedian. I know that not all my jokes are funny... Still, I hope you can accept my heartfelt apology.)."
