In case you missed it, host and radio DJ Sam YG just got engaged! Also known as Sam Gogna, the TV personality popped the question to his non-showbiz girlfriend Essa Santos just a few days ago.
Sam shared the news on his Instagram account last January 26 with the caption “Let me love you for the rest of my life?’” alongside a photo of the exact moment he got down on one knee.
The two shared their sweet moment beneath what seems like a gorgeous fairy-lit night sky, but did you know that the entire proposal was actually just held in Sam’s condo? Yep, the breathtaking scenery you’re seeing in the couple’s photos is all thanks to pure set design magic.
“We used hundreds of lights to achieve our pegs,” said events stylist Kyno Kho, who only had a small bedroom in Sam’s place to work with—20 square meters to be exact. “We used mirror carpet panels to reflect the lights to achieve a magical illusion. Finally, we added details to our set up by using dozens of LED candles on the floor, and of course, the neon sign to pop the question." So cool!
According to Kyno, it took six hours to mount the entire set. Considering Essa’s preference for neutral colors, they brought in dried flowers and imported pampas grass as well to complete Sam’s makeshift lake-side proposal.

Sam and Essa started dating back in April 2018. In an IG post by the radio jock, he revealed that Essa turned him down a total of seven time before she finally agreed to get a drink with him. “The struggle was real but dreams come true,” he added.
