At the 83rd Academy Awards, Black Swan’s Natalie Portman became the first Harvard graduate to ever win an Oscar for Best Actress. In the words of her former teacher in Neuropsychology and the Law, Professor Alan Dershowitz, Natalie was “a terrific student.” She got an A+ on her paper on lie detections and eventually went on to become his research assistant.

“Her psychology background helped her in formulating the role for [Black Swan] ... She’s an actor who uses her academic background,” he is quoted as saying on The Harvard Crimson, the university’s daily newspaper.

A few years back, Natalie missed the premiere of Star Wars Episode I because she was studying for her finals in high school. A straight-A student since she was in grade school, she also got to the semifinals of the Intel Science Talent Search, a highly demanding research competition for aspiring scientists.

Natalie isn’t the only celebrity with a degree. If you’ve ever wondered what courses your favorite celebrities took when they were in college, click through the gallery below. Did we miss any of your idols? Tell us about them in a comment.
