Mark Wahlberg slammed Hollywood stars for airing their opinions on politics, calling his fellow celebs “out of touch.”

The 45-year-old actor refuses to talk about politics, and didn’t give any indication as to who he voted for the in recent presidential election, unlike other celebrities who publicly endorsed Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton.

Stars including Katy Perry, Jessica Chastain and Madonna all backed Clinton, encouraging their followers on social media to vote for the Democratic candidate.

Wahlberg criticized those in Hollywood who publicly aired their political views, calling them “out of touch” with regular people. “A lot of celebrities did, do, and shouldn’t (talk about politics),” the father-of-four told People.

“You know, it just goes to show you that people aren’t listening to that anyway,” Wahlberg said, referring to Clinton’s loss to Trump last month.

“They might buy your CD or watch your movie, but you don’t put food on their table. You don’t pay their bills. A lot of Hollywood is living in a bubble. They’re pretty out of touch with the common person, the everyday guy out there providing for their family,” he explained to the publication.

The Boston native said he has enough 'real world' experiences to make him avoid certain aspects of Hollywood culture, including politics.

“Me, I’m very aware of the real world. I come from the real world and I exist in the real world. And although I can navigate Hollywood and I love the business and the opportunities it’s afforded me, I also understand what it’s like not to have all that,” he shared.

The Oscar-nominated actor has had a more troubled past than most, but says learning from his mistakes grounds him in Hollywood. Wahlberg served 45 days of a two-year sentence when he was 16 for attacking two Vietnamese men in different attacks on the same day.

He also developed an addiction to drugs at an early age and broke a neighbour’s jaw in an unprovoked attack when he was 21, but turned his life around as he got older, and is now a devoted family man.
