Kris Aquino has revealed that she is set to join the Philippines’ political scene in a few years.

In an article published on on May 4, the country’s Queen of All Media said that she is planning to run for governor of Tarlac (her home province), in 2016, after noting that it would be hard to dethrone the Binays, who have held the mayoral position in Makati City (where she resides) for several years now.

“The incumbent [Tarlac] governor Vic Yap is now running for his last term. He said he would give it to me [to run for],” she had said.

Kris also shared that she would be taking up a post-graduate course in preparation for her gubernatorial career and that Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero, who is currently running for reelection in the upper house, would be her mentor.

“I want to have credentials,” she remarked, adding that she doesn’t just want to bank on the Aquino name to win. “Gusto ko may maiambag naman para sa bayan (I want to contribute something to the country.).”

As for what she wanted to achieve if she ever wins a position, Kris said that she wanted to promote the country’s local tourism, citing Bantayan Island in Cebu and the beaches of Gumasa in General Santos City as potential tourist attractions.
