Jolina Magdangal has confirmed that she is expecting her first child with her husband, Mark Escueta.

"Gusto ko na ngang i-announce agad, magpa-party (I really wanted to announce it immediately, to throw a party),” the singer, who has been pregnant for nine weeks, told PEP.ph.

"Kung alam n’yo lang, talagang gustung gusto ko na, pero medyo pigil muna ako ngayon dahil hinihintay lang namin na super-super safe siya (If you only knew, I really wanted to announce the big news, but I had to restrain myself because I want to be super super safe first)," Jolina continued.

It turns out that Jolina’s OB-Gyne, Dr. Madeline Florendo, advised the star to refrain from confirming her pregnancy until her condition becomes stable. Jolina had also taken a break from her GMA-7 show Sunday All Stars so she can rest properly.

When asked about the baby’s sex, Jolina hopes that her first child will be a boy, while Mark is wishing for a girl. Still, the couple says that their baby’s health would be the most important factor.

"Kahit ano, basta healthy (We don't mind if we're having either a girl or a boy, as long as the child is healthy.).”
